Nargothrond and the House of BŰor

"Loose!" the arrows whistled as they flew through the air while bats plumetted to the ground, lifeless or otherwise. The Elvish blades were washed red with the blood of the wolves. All in all the skirmish hadn't taken long but it had cost many Elves their life. The remnants of the once great host of monsters were pushed back over the river Sirion. Orodreth having routed the enemy himself thought his duty of commanding was over and made his way back to Nargothrond where he would govern his realm. Orodreth was more of an administrator and a ruler than a military commander. The army however he did not disband. Command of it was given to a noble from the underground city with the task to defend the south-eastern border.

Aelin-Uial, recaptured from the horrible creatures of the Wild Forests, was returned to the Kingdom of Nargothrond, by the grace of Thingol. Nendir, the commander of the forces sent by Orodreth to aid Thingol were not dismissed of their tasks yet. The King of the Sindar could use the help of his kinsmen in their struggles. Nendir's troops were bolstered with inhabitants of Aelin-Uial. These Elves had escaped the butchery of the Wild Beasts and had hid in the marshy lands of the Meres of Twilight. Now that the combined Nargothrond and Doriath forces had liberated the region they eagerly took up arms, eternally grateful to their saviours.

The evil creatures send a small force to recapture their ruins - "small" being the operative word in terms of the number of enemies only. There is nothing "small" about the wolves and bears making up the force. These are no cubs just off their mother's teat; they are experienced predators adept at hunting and killing all manner of prey. As a result, the Elven force sent to repulse the attack suffers heavy losses, despite their eventual victory. Even so, the carnage in the south has noticeably subsided. How long will this period of relative calm last, we wonder?

As the Elves and Men of all the corners of Beleriand start to feel stronger and stronger with each day, whispers are being heard among the people of the potential formation of a new union that could maybe challenge the so far unbeatable forces of Morgoth in the foreseeable future...

The fight is not over yet. The Shadow marches ever forth, but there is still resistance. As the armies of the dark lord moves southward, they left but a few orcs in the plundered Ard-Galen. The walls were breached, and so the city lay open to counterattack. In the cover of darkness a small force sneaked through the enemy lines and overran the orcs. It was but a small battle, but it shows that the fight isn't quite up yet in the east, for the elves have sworn to guard the lands from all evil.

King Thingol appeared, still a little diminished at the lose of his daughter to the lands of the Laegrim , and he eagerly read the reports from the chieftain of that tribe , frantic to hear news of his kin, but the message was short and sweet , and dealt more with the actions at large ,much to his own disappointment. Harps plucked and elfven voices rose in song , in the forest of Doriath , as the king began to address all of his message's , some from kings, and kin, others from firm friends , but in all the words prophesied much doom and ill will in the land , and his hope was ebbing .

He rose from his seat, asking for the news of the doriath forces, eager for a update , but again their was little news of his troops , being that they had moved beyond the forest scope. News had reached him however , that one of the spiders den's had been taken , but it seems the spiders had regrouped on the western caverns and thus the chance to break the spiders control of the northlands, had pasted....

Apparently he learnt later , in the day, that another group of wolfs and other fell beasts had moved close to the southern forest edge, and the elfven army group which hoped to destroy the spiders sieging the gondorian elf company which held the western spider cavern , had withdrew in the face, of that force of spiders being reinforced with even more spiders. Such news was not desirable to hear, but most of the free peoples of the west, were putting much effort into defending themselfs against a new push of morgoths force .

The glittering weapons and armor of Cirdan's army's column could be seen for miles. It was like a great metal snake slithering through the countryside. They were well within Nargothrond's territory now, and the local's faces were filled with joy to see such a large Elven force in their lands, but a specter of worry could also be seen. For an army had not marched in those lands for centuries. Since the arrival of the Noldor had they been safe from Morgoth's might, but they knew the tales of defeat in the north. Some of their warriors who crossed the Pass to fight in the battle of sudden flame had not returned yet, and they were now giving up hope. They were beginning to wonder how long it would be before enemy armies tread upon their land once more. But Cirdan, upon seeing these forlorn faces, silently pledged that he would do anything within his power to keep Beleriand free of worry, as it once was, as it should be. His army sang by day and by night the marching songs of the Elves, songs he had not heard in a long time, and songs which after his hopeful victory, he should not hear ever again.

Nargothrond and the House of BŰor

Orodreth returned to Nargothrond to resume his work as King, Nendir met with the legendary Beleg C˙thalion, famous defender of the borders of Doriath. Nendir would be working tight with the Sindar commander in the defence of Doriath against any intrusions. Meanwhile in the south, Feredir was still tasked with guarding the south-eastern border around the river Sirion should the creatures of the night return. A horde of wolves and other foul creatures was reported seen east of Aelin-Uial, which concerned the just liberated population and they looked to Orodreth for protection. What should he do, react offensively or defensively? After much deliberation Orodreth called his scribes.

"Prepare a letter for Commander Feredir."
