I'd like to bring up the thing with traversable rivers. We're likely to change the campaign map at some point anyway, right? Being able to sail upriver would be incredibly cool and also historically correct.

There is a lot of maps showing water routs that the norsemen used, so we just use that info..... I think I saw one in the "idea" thread. One is for sure - Volga

Looks pretty good. I don't really see a reason to go all the way to the Americas, but Greenland, ok. Ideally the map would be slightly rotated, like this:
I mean, rotate it so the red lines are straight. You know? That way we could get Sicily and Constantinople and pretty far east into Russian, but still leave out the northernmost ends of Scandinavia as well as... well, ok, it doesn't help much, I'm just throwing the idea out.

Yea we removed America... due to

1. Waste.. no reason to
2. Who lived there and how would they hold it?
3. We'd have to create a new culture for those rebels...

Greenland and Iceland would be a nice territorial rivalry for the Vikings.

Because sometimes it's very useful. It's not 100% necessary that north is up on a map. Anyway, I'm not sure if this'll help us... I'm just reminding you that it's possible to do this, in case we decide it would be better.

yea.. that'll be tough for Selenius and I really don't see what the problem is with having it go that far north..

Plus it gives the Vikings more regions in the Scandinavian Penensula (which is the focal point of the mod)

I like that reasoning. I really do but I think it'd be too hard to do that..

So, the map we're using is going to be an expansion of the vanilla one? I mean, we're going to take the vanilla map and then just go a little further north and instead remove some of the south and the east? In that case, I understand why you wouldn't want to rotate the map like that. It would mean a lot of work for... er... whoever is doing the map.

well the vanilla one doesn't have Greenland or Iceland.. and it doesn't have North Scandinavia

Yeah... everything is so off topic in this forum. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. I think this forum could use some more moderation, just to help keeping the important threads clean. But then we'd need a dedicated moderator.

-Skinning and modeling being done for Croatia= im stuck meaning no progress. im having problems with photoshop and making new textures. i really need some advice from some of more experienced skinners... do we have any in this mod? whats with the dev forum? is it operational? if so why i dont have access? if not, how can a mod function without dev forum?
