There are a couple of slave resources on the map IIRC, I remember seeing one in Persis. Although I don't think the slave resource should be represented in that way - is there supposed to be a big herd of slaves wandering around that you can farm like horses or elephants??

I think the slave market should provide the slave resource, which is then needed to build high end buildings like the Colosseum and Circus Maximus. Ideally, having a slave market in a province should then allow armies to enslave battle captives and they would add to the slave population in the provinces with those markets. That way you'd need to choose where to build the markets to gain the economic benefits of enslaving defeated units, but also need to handle the PO problems.

But as it currently stands I think slavery is not fully implemented right now. Probably needs working on in a future update.

I agree 100%. Slaves were taken from every region of the Republic/Empire, not just from "slave farms" in a few regions. Treating slaves as natural resources is a step away from historical accuracy.

I would like to see at the end of a battle/siege one of the three options for dealing with captives is to make them slaves. Isn't that what happened?

I think that what it does is to replenish your army or give you money.
