Which faction presents the most challenge?

Recently I played as Carthage but after dealing with food shotages and PO it felt too easy, just steamrolling, so I tried Pergamon. It starts with only 1 city so I thought it's deffinetly going to be hard, well it wasnt I conquered almost all of asia minor, I'm at war with Seleucids and Ptolemaic and they are not presenting me with any challenge whatsoever. It just seems the AI is very passive.

So I just want to know before I start a new campaign which faction is the most challenging. Any thoughts?

The reason I play on normal/normal because I thought its going to mess up the stats or whatever, but if you (the modder) say so I will try today, thanks

Hmm... I tried a campaign with carthage in normal (older version) and hard (with the last update) and both times its really quiet down there in Africa :-) i can easily conquer rome without problems. rome ist struggeling to survive.... is there a possibility to make the AI a bit more aggressive? - but not in terms to declare war randomly but when you are at war with a faction then they will try to attack you... or is the ocean in between a problem? (path finding - not able to make sea landing operations? ) thanks anyway for that great mod!

Rome is actually bloody hard to play!! every single city you want to attack needs a one turn wait, your Scipio army can't attack Carthage right away after Zama, and even then Carthage will not sue for historical puppet state peace as per the ironic historical events in the mod, Rome has far too many issues for a state at war by this point, everything is being much harder for Rome and it doesn't make sense!

I'm also playing as Pergamon, ROME has been annihilated by minor factions, so I moved to Italy and conquer it, I'm not attacking the Seleucyds becuse we are good friends and I'm a loyal guy

Try the Seleucids. They're in a tougher spot than most in my opinion.

Def Egypt. It's hard to maintain your economy and defeat the Selecuids, and plus make sure you build a lot of buildings related to food.
