Food during the winter

Salve,
Ive been going in my campaign for a decade or so and i got income and unrest fairly well managed. One thing i cant get grip on is famine during winter turns.
Graneries are supposed to store food to compensate for the lack of production. I have level 2 graneries in each province but still get a famine of minus 100-20. Also in the building description i see not a single reference to the supposed storing of food.

Will it require a new start? Also does granary help in winter? In info it doesnt says anything about food except food import And export...

I don't bother building granaries anymore, not since the June 8 update. Better to build another farm.

The food reserves for removed and will be replaced with a new system that takes your food produce in the region and increases it. Right now good reserves have been removed until we implement the new system, hence why it currently doesn't help.
