    Default Triarii OP in campaign?

This units is seriously OP. I am playing as rome and there is no value in any of the other units since the price and upkeep are only a little more but the battlefield performance is massively superior. The unit is better vs infantry cav and archers. It has better morale Armour and melee combat stats.

Why is the Triarii so cheap and has such a low upkeep?

Triarii are better. They have some traits that are beyond stats such as the superior charge resist. Its one of the circles under the the stats, kinda hard to see. I just double checked and its because they are a very heavy spear unit as opposed to a heavy spear unit.

Play on higher difficulty battle. Before I upped that, I literally held Hannibal’s army off with the two triarii you get and some cycle charging cavalry. The mod is way too easy on normal for battles, however just right for campaign (at least Rome) the other factions seem way too hard.

Interesting point. However, this doesn't address the issue of triarii being the only viable option for roman infantry right? Upping the difficulty will make triarii actually beatable but it would also make my principle and hastati totally weak.

My main point about how triarii is the only viable roman infantry and how this is a problem stands right?

I have come to the conclusion that Triarii were not meant to be used in combat in real life. Rather they were in the back rank to "encourage" any in front of them whose courage was failing to return to the battle... said encouragement coming at the tip of their spears. Makes it difficult to run away.

Not sure how to make that playable.

Thanks for all your work, i also feel the Equites suffer from a similar situation, they are simply too cost effective vs other roman cav. However this is by a smaller margin.
