    Default Idea for a building

    What do you think about the Vikings having a building named "Thrall trader" or something? It could give some kind of farming bonus (thralls being employed in domestics such as farming) as well as a population growth bonus (or maybe that comes automatically with the farming bonus).

    Also, building one of these in an area where there's a slave resource could generate some trade income. Apparently, the Vikings were just about the only people in Europe who could trade slaves, because Christians couldn't be slaves, but Christians were still interested in buying them...     Maybe you could get some kind of monetary bonus for defeating a rebel army and selling them as slaves

    Anyway, how did Viking economy work? Did people pay tax, or did they just have to join the armed forces in times of need? Would recruitment of Viking units really cost any money, or would it be more historically correct to let them have upkeep only?

    That would be cool. I'm thinking that, also, instead of Viking temples there'll be Viking runes.. With each upgrade you can get better sacrificial priests.

    Hm. I don't know much about how the Vikings practiced their religion but I always though those temples in RTW that gave you certain bonuses were kinda... wrong. It'll be interesting to see what significance the religious buildings will have in this mod.

    Vikings had Thor, Oden, Valhal and others.
    Preists constructed runes in honor of dead soldiers

    The vikings got temples, they also got a special shrines called Lund.
    Ever heard about the great Temple in Old Uppsala?

    I was raised on Finno-Urgic Paganism

    You really don't believe in them, you sort of... feel a strong attatchment to them.. Kinda like they're representing that part of you.

    I know the Vikings had temples, but I don't like the idea of being able to recruit, er, say, berserkers only if you have, say, Odin's temple in your city. You know?

    The priests stayed home in scandinavia to whorship the gods.
    They should'nt be a battlefield unit.

    Kinda like how the Cross was.

    Yeah, but I mean, there shouldn't be Viking priest agents on the campaign map, right? Maybe if a Viking settlement is conquered by Catholics, there could be rebellious Viking priests as independent characters sort of like Heretics but Pagan though.

    what?? What's wrong with recruiting assasins from inns? I'm sure the Vikings had brothels and stuff... Anyway, like I said, I think the thrall trader should improve the farming output as well as the trade income.

    I thought we agreed berserkers wouldn't be trained... especially not in temples.

    Berserkers will be trained... how else would we get them

    We agreed that Jomsborg Vikings would be only trainable through a guild

    I'm sorry - of course berserkers have to be recruited somewhere, but were they really trained, or were they just found and recruited - that's what I meant.
