    Default Kudos and critiques

Not so many critiques. Congrats on your beta version. I like the feel overall and especially the diversity of units.

I have played about 20 turns as Rome. The challenging part is trying to plan out what city builds I want to make. Militarily and economically, very easy. I wish I had started on Hard or Very Hard.

Something I do not understand: recruitment points. There is no mention of recruitment points in the Manual. I have built all my military buildings save one in Italia. In Tarrentum I built my siege engine building. I have no problems building legions in Italia, but I can no longer build siege engines, because I do not have enough recruitment points there. What are recruitment points, and how do I get them?

A problem you probably already know about: weapons exercise fields. Level 3 and level 4 yield the identical benefits, but 4 costs more than 3.

    Thanks for your hard work.

Oops. I was playing on Hard, two turns per year. Now starting a new game Very Hard, four turns per year.

Same here , The initial 10 turns or so , the economy was challenging playing as Rome. But after that i get more than 20k per turn with 6 Full Stacks..

BTW i am playing with Normal/Normal Difficulty as advised by the modders . I wish i could turn up the difficulty mid- campaign. So much Love invested in my campaign and now i find it hard to start a fresh one

I'm afraid I have bad news, as you're definitely going to have to restart your campaigns as Rome following the next update. Which is coming out tomorrow at the latest. I also have some good news - the economy is far more challenging. I believe the Softcore submod will surge again on Steam

Yeah, I figured as much. Real life is such a barrier to good gaming and modding - that's why I had to stop helping will with tech descriptions and I wasn't even doing any real work on the mod! Can't imagine how the core team manage to fit it all in.

That said I think real life will take a back seat tomorrow to constantly waiting for the update to start on Steam

    Wonderful.

But if you would be so kind, can you explain recruitment points? Or will that be changed?

Recruitment points is the tally from all local sources (per province). Regardless of province, you have a base recruitment capacity of +2. Depending on urbanisation level of the local region, between 1 to 4 additional slots are added to the province per region. In other words, with no other modifiers present, Rome should be able to recruit 2 (base) + 3 × 4 (3 heavily urbanised regions each providing 4 additional slots) in the Italia province, for a tally of 14 slots. This capacity is further subject to change from seasons, which as familiar may subtract a variable amount of slots during Winter, detailed in the effect bundle at the left bottom corner. Further, certain army traditions, buildings and technologies also modify the amount of recruitment slots

I understand recruitment slots. Thanks. This is not an issue of slots.

I was able to build about ten siege units over several turns as I added them to my fledgling legions. But then when I later was forming a new legion, I was told I could not build any units in Tarrentum because I did not have points... not slots but points. I could not build ANY units, as if there was a maximum number of units I could build there over time, not in a turn but over the span of years.

I guess we already cut down all the trees?

Again, thank you for all your work.

Are we talking about units or siege units here? If the latter, it is correct that you are limited to the amount of rams, towers and ladders you can build both per turn and in total, largely determined by the army's size.

If recruiting ordinary units is the issue, I don't know. Points and slots are interchangeable to me. Why the game designates them differently is anyone's guess, but it is a matter of wording and not functionality to my best knowledge. Low public order would prohibit recruitment until it has been restored

I have a feeling it will be resolved with the update. One last thing I can think of - did you have an Amicus main city in that settlement?

Oh man, I really don't know. I just continued the same categories for city upgrades in Italy as they started... I think. I am not sure I have a save that would answer that question. Since we are having the update, I will worry about it tomorrow, as Miss Scarlet would say.

Oh, and again, thank you for your kind cooperation. "I have always relied upon the kindness of strangers. "

One of the Roman main settlements (the one with -80% tax income and -50% PO penalties from foreign culture) also stops you recruiting anything in that region even if you have recruitment buildings. That might be your problem.

I did have a save. Tarentum and Rhegium both have cities from the Colonia Latinum string of builds. Syracuse has Civitus Libera.
