Old previews
Preview RotR 1.1
Preview RotR 1.1 Patch 1
For the future Patch 2, here is a preview of things that will be added for Hannover:
At first there will a new UI. We are switching from Baroque to Neoclassical style so it's naturally that everything is toned down a bit.
Hanoverian UI Preview
Furthermore Hannover will get new Naval Officers. I added some lines about the process of creating them.
Hanoverian Naval Officers
In-game screenshots
But you will now say, Hanoverian Naval Officers? Did they ever have a Navy?
Well, not exactly. The Hanoverian Government had some ships, used for customs service (the so-called 'Elbzollfregatte'). Here is one of the ships from the mid 18th century with a captain (Capitaine):
Elbzollfregatte and Capitaine
From this picture I took the base uniform colours: blue and white with gold facings. For the other uniform details I used the late 18th century infantry officers and generals uniform:
Hanoverian Officers
On the left is a pic of a Hanoverian General and on the right one of an Infantry Officer. As you can see all Hanoverian officers wore two epaulets. So every naval officer has two of them. What is not displayed is that the general had lace around the lapels and cuffs. (take a look at this picture from the Hanoverian cavalry general von Freytag):
von Freytag
So I gave the Admiral the uniform details from the Hanoverian generals as the rank would have been the same. The only exception second row of lace on the cuffs comes from the British Royal Naval uniform pattern, take a look at this link.
For the Lieutenant I used the pattern of the Hanoverian officers whereas for the Capitaine I added lace around the buttonholes (as in the mid 18th century uniform above) and a row of lace on the cuffs (the idea came from the Royal Navy uniform again).
Take a look at our new Facebook and Twitter page.

Here is the preview of our newest update, 1.1.9, Patch 2. This is an open Beta and not heavily tested but should fix the annoying campaign bug from 1.1.
We now have a new tag, created by oleg2242.
Another new thing are the Hanoverian Navy Officers you can see above.
The flag set has been replaced by wangrin's and Herr Doktor's work (and a bit of mine).
Furthermore there are many new historical characters in the game for you to find and defeat
In addition Hannover got a new UI in the Neoclassical style.

As announced in the last preview Denmark will be the next faction that will be reworked for RotR 1.2.
Today I'll present you the first works on Denmark and how we work to create new units.
The first part is obviously checking the sources and how the uniforms did develop.
Those plates below were especially helpful:
Plates:
Then we discussed the pros and cons and decided for the m1789 uniform. For this uniform we already had many parts of the model, as for example the coatee which could be taken from the Legion of the United States
Legion of the United States Private
Still the new Top Hat had to be done.
As our primary source showed only one side of the hat, we had to have a look at other pictures as a reference and for comparison.
It was this picture (the sitting private in the front):
Reference picture
Soon the Top Hat began to look like a Top Hat:
WIP pictures of the Top Hat
Then the unit model itself had been created and the details added.
Here is a WIP picture
The final step was to adjust the vertex weights to ensure a smooth animation.
Here is a picture from a test
And here are a preview of the final models (the Grenadier hat was already part of a Swedish guard unit and had just been taken over):
Denmark Line and Light Infantry and Grenadier
You can take a closer look at the Danish Top Hat here.
Second myfate joined our team as DB-Editor and Ship-Painter! Welcome him to the team. Surly the ships painting has to be ready for an inspection of the admiral! He already started to work on new colour schemes for ships as you can see here and don't forget to rep myfate :
Painted Hulls
In addition new historical characters have been added:
US Admirals
Swedish Admirals
Swedish Generals
At last, some new event-pics were made. I used some of the great caricatures of Thomas Rowlandson to bring in some humour of the late 18th century. I hope you do like them.
event-pics
I hope you do like this new form of presenting you the progress we make on RotR 1.2. I thought it would be nice to give you a little insight into how we work.

Campaign map models
Following the culture support 130 (recruitable) historical characters have been added to the game:
Historical Characters
At last, Saxony has now a philosophy tech-tree:

Russian Empire: Army, Navy and DiplomacyWith the next update of the Imperial Splendour: Rise of the Republic even more gameplay aspects will be enhanced. In this preview, we will talk about major victory achievement means – Army, Navy and Diplomacy when playing as the Russian Empire.
Let’s start from diplomacy first. And from the probably most significant diplomat of the century – Empress Catherine II.
Being a ruler of Russia for already over than 20 years she gained several powerful traits, which help to keep control and supervision over the endless lands. There is a lot of things to do more, but time is merciless and as soon as she dies, it is necessary to be prepared for major changes in all aspects of the Empire’s life.
We introduced new characters’ ancillaries based on historical Imperial Russia's award system consisted of seven orders. Catherine received a unique one - with diplomacy bonus. Order of Saint George is commonly given for military victories and heroism only. The other orders are not limited, with traits depending on character type, they will decorate Imperial servants for the honest service. Or for being a favourite of someone.
To adequately react to the challenges given by the constantly changing world, it is needed to keep abreast of the other countries development. This will fall on ambassadors. They will help to gather required information about neighbouring factions’ economics and military might via spying networks and ties inside foreign governments. And generally, about things are going on.
Ten historical diplomats are ready to serve wherever they will be sent.
But who will care too much about diplomacy when it is possible to crush numerous enemies of the Empire with the army led by the glorious field marshals?
We developed the general's pool, which is a mix of the recruited historical military commanders with different values and importance.
All of them will receive corresponding traits more or less based on their true biography. As the Peter I successfully introduced military governors’ system at the beginning of the century, it was the intention to give generals some of the civil traits as well or garrison policing bonus at least. So, some not being really able on the battlefield, could still be appointed for the civilian duties and faithfully serve.
The army is great, but the aims are even greater. It will be mandatory to fight on several war theatres to achieve the victory condition.
To be one of the world’s greatest naval power is a prestigious and expensive thing, so it is necessary to develop a strong economy first before building a large navy. But further Empire's expansion to the south and south-west requires total control of the Black Sea, and so the powerful Black Sea fleet with a well-trained crew.
The naval roster is completely overhauled and benefits of Russian heavy frigates will be significant.
Similar to diplomats and general, admirals also received their historical characters’ pool and awards.Interests of Empire are not limited to Europe, it is a time to establish a monopoly on the maritime fur trade and to develop and colonize New World territories. Foundation of the Russian-American Company following the example of British and French are inevitable.
Next, we will be working on the introduction of military technologies as close as possible to simulate true development. The religious and scientific part will be overviewed as well.
Dano-Norwegian Army
Also with the next update of Imperial Splendour: Rise of the Republic the Dano-Norwegian army is ready to be led by you.
Of course, you'll get help from your generals and admirals:
Furthermore this is the roster:

At last, we want to answer the question of what still needs to be done before the next release.
It's tech-trees, tech-trees, tech-trees.
We will keep you posted on any progress.

As the 2018 Modding Awards are over now, we can proudly say the Rise of the Republic won the Awards in the ETW, NTW and Shogun 2 section!
Thanks to you all who voted for us!
In addition PikeStance and I were awarded as 3rd and 4th place favourite modders of this section! Again we would like to thank you for voting for us
Also we have something new, a new preview video made by Fahnat
Also when doing bug-fixing we noticed that the soundtrack could lead to sounds not playing. Therefore the complete soundtrack was reworked. We now cut several longer recordings into smaller pieces to reduce the size of the tracks and also the amount disk space used so that all sounds are played properly (and also removing unnecessary silence at the beginning and end of some pieces). The soundtrack is still a Classical music soundtrack and uses calmer music for the campaign (mostly Piano music), more vivid (a march of Beethoven, used in the video too!) and full orchestra music for the land battles and finally mostly string quartets/quintets for naval battles. Overall the soundtrack was expanded with much more pieces as before.
By the way, the messed-up campaign agent voices were fixed too (a very weird bug, I can tell you, had to rewrite a DB with exactly the same content).
Here is the complete list with every piece we used and in which situation it can play. Click on the links to listen to the pieces:

So finally the last question, when is the next release coming?
Yes, we know, we promised it for may but nothing happened. Sadly RL came in between. There are still some things need to be done (like the Swedish tech-trees). We won't release a new version before that because the next release will be a full release and should be complete, not as the anniversary beta where you could see missing things. So we hope you still have some patience with us, version 1.2 is definitely coming!
Thanks for your patience and enjoy the music.

We know, there haven't been an update or a Developers blog for a long time. But time is a limiting issue when modding.
Furthermore, we want to release a clean version 1.2 and not another beta.
But many things have been made in the background. In order the give the AI the ability to make use of conquered regions we centralised the building chains. So not every faction has his own building chain any more. All factions share the same chains, just the Prestige Buildings, localisation, models and UI are different.
This model of the town hall of Coburg will serve as a generic town hall:
And this is the final model of the special Brunswick building chain:
You can see them in a 3D preview here.
Also, many descriptions were added and the website received a complete overhaul. Many bugs you reported were fixed and we try to improve the overhaul quality of the mod.
And many things will be new in the next version and mods like iporto9393's Train your Generals at Schools! -&- Fixed Trait and Ancillary Triggers will be incorporated in 1.2.
In addition, those guys will be part of RotR 1.2 as a little anticipation of RotR 1.3:
The basic model was made by Flikitos long ago with some slight adaptions made by me.
Furthermore the Total War Center 2019 Modding Awards are now live! Click on the image below

Today is the 226th anniversary of the Glorious First of June. Is there any better day to present the British Naval officers?
Here they are, long-awaited British Naval officers in the 1787 uniform regulation uniforms:
To left is the lieutenant, in the middle the admiral (vice-admiral to be precise, he has two rows of gold lace on his cuffs) and to the right is the captain (full-captain, meaning he has three years seniority on the list).
To see a real coat of a full-captain follow this link to the Royal Museums Greenwich - National Maritime Museum
These are the officers in-game:
That's not all news for Great Britain. We will also look into the British units in the Americas in order to avoid that Great Britain can spawn huge amounts of well-trained units. During making this, new British colonial units will be provided as the West India Regiments:
And here they are in action:
The recruitment of those units recruited from the black slave on the plantations is restricted to the West Indies and on every island, you can recruit a few. According to 18th century society, the regiments are commanded by white officers.
Furthermore here are all new generic European building models which are currently completed in will be in the next update (click on the image or the link below for a 3D-preview):
https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/gene...cf70233e1f2276
Finally, I have some news about the followers, each will get its little icon. Here you can see some:
Some are caricatures (especially by Thomas Rowlandson and William Hogarth) and some are paintings or sketches, we hope you like them.
And Imperial Splendour - Rise of the Republic has won the 2019 Modding Awards at Total War Center (furthermore, I was awarded the 3rd place as Favourite modder)!

July '20 Developers Blog
Today we present you the latest work from June, featuring mostly colonial units in the West Indies.
As the West India Regiment was already in the June blog let's start with the British units!
The first units are the Black light infantry in 2 variants: Loyal Black Rangers, recruitable in the original British colonies and Black Chasseurs, recruitable in the other colonies. Both units have a bonus in fighting in the West Indies:
Loyal Black Rangers:
Black Chasseurs:
Also the British can recruit a cavalry unit in Hispaniola and Cuba, the Uhlans Britannique. Historically they were recruited for service in Hispaniola in Europe as an auxiliary unit for the British campaign in Hispaniola. Due to the climate in the West Indies and the yellow fever many men died. Therefore the unit has only 60 men.
Uhlans Britannique:
Also, all factions will have access to some generic colonial units in the West Indies, here are the first 2:
Generic Black Chasseurs:
Generic White Planter Militia:
As you can see, we also created a generic white officer for all West India units.
But that's not all. Finally, the British Highlander Light Infantry is done!
Also, the Guards have now a light infantry unit replacing the light infantry of the Marines:
The 42nd Regiment of Foot, the Black Watch, received an update on their uniforms. They have now the correct lace around their buttonholes.
Here are the unit icons:
1. Guards Light Infantry
2. West India Regiment
3. Black Chasseurs
4. Loyal Black Rangers
5. Uhlans Britannique
6. 42nd Regiment of Foot 'Black Watch'
7. Highlanders Light Infantry
1. Black Chasseurs
2. White Planters Militia
As already announced iporto9393's Train your Generals at Schools! -&- Fixed Trait and Ancillary Triggers mod will be added in the next update. Among other things, it adds new followers. Some followers are created also only for RotR. Here are all new followers:
For Admirals:
1. Steward - A Steward cares for the needs of his master.
2. Ship's cat - A cat is on a ship to control the population of rats and therefore prevent the provisions from being eaten.
3. Coxwain - A coxswain is the man who steers a ship. But a loyal coxswain is much more. He commands the personal barge crew of his captain or admiral, follows him from ship to ship and can even act as his bodyguard.
4. Boatswain - The boatswain had responsibility for rigging, cables, anchors, sails and boats. They were not eligible to command ships but could stand watches. They were less educated than the more senior warrant officers, although they needed to keep accounts. But access to the ship's stores comes to a price...
Note that each admiral can have only one follower out of the first three.
For Generals:
1. Influential Cousin - This man has influential relatives. In the world of the 18th century where kinship is a major factor in promotion having influential relatives is important. This secures future advancement even when having no talents at all. The cousin also attracts persons without a patron seeking patronage.
2. Drummer - A drummer is needed to let the soldiers march in cadence. He gives provides the speed of the march. But he acts as a battlefield medic too.
3. Fifer - A fifer is needed to cheer up the men with his tunes. But he acts as a battlefield medic too.
4. Trumpeter - A trumpeter signals a cavalry unit how to move. Also, the sound encourages the men.
5. Matador (only available for Spanish and Portuguese generals)
For Scholars:
1. Female Doctoral Candidate
2. Interested Wife
Especially the last to followers based on Historical people, especially Dorothea Schlözer and Marie-Anne Paulze Lavoisier. Both followers are very rare but they both give a bonus on the research speed and the Female Doctoral Candidate gives an additional bonus on the ability to research techs from the Philosophy tech-tree.
Also, Pike's AI is also in the next update (thanks to myfate!) but there is a little issue we have to fix. This also answers when the next release is - not before we can fix the issue.
We will keep you posted on our progress!

October '20 Developers Blog
After a summer break here is our newest content.
The last British and generic units for the West Indies are done!
At first the British:
20th (Jamaica) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons:
The 20th (Jamaica) Regiment of (Light) Dragoons was raised in 1792 for service in Jamaica. It saw service in the Second Maroon War. The regiment was equipped with a special helmet similar to French infantry helmets around the revolution. At the front was a badge with the regimental number and the regimental insignia - a crocodile - referring to Jamaica.
Here is the in-game icon:
The other - and last - British unit is the West Indies Militia artillery. This means in the West Indies you can only recruit some 6 pounder guns with inferior stats. Proper artillery has to be shipped from Europe!
And here are the final generic West Indies units:
Generic West India Regiment
Generic West India Light Dragoons
Generic West India Militia Artillery
Here are the unit icons:
Furthermore, I have 2 new buildings for you: (click on the names or pictures to see them in 3D):
The Schloss Lütetsburg is located in Lütetsburg near Norden in East Frisia in Germany. Attached to the palace is a large English Landscape Garden - the oldest one in Germany and it still exists! Originally a castle was located on the place the palace was erected. The moat is still from the time when the palace was a castle. The castle was destroyed in 1514 and a Rennaisecance palace was built on its place. But at the end of the 17th century, the palace was ailing and the palace I recreated was built. In the 1790s the famous English Landscape Garden attached to the palace was shaped. Nearly 100 years later a Christmas tree fell and the palace burned down. Another palace was built. This new palace shared the same fate and burned down in 1956. So today’s palace is, in fact, a modern building from the 1950s whereas the garden is 160 years older.
It'll serve as the highest level farm building. This is the in-game Empire Total War model:
This draft of a palace was made by the architect Peter Joseph Krahe in 1792. I modelled the building after this front plan:
from the Städtisches Museum Braunschweig (all credits go to them for the picture, the original can be found here ).
For the colours of the facade, I used the current colour scheme of the Wangenheim Palais in Hannover as it is also a Classicist building and has a certain similarity.
The building serves as generic Governors palace in the Empire Total War mod Imperial Splendour. This is the in-game model:
December '20 Developers Blog
It's time for a little blog on the 3rd Advent. This time it's mostly about units and another little gift.
To the units:
And here are the Icons:
Furthermore, I have a new building for you:
The level 5 generic Parliament Building:
As most things are done, we decided to assemble a closed beta. So if you want to hunt some bugs or simply test the new version you can contact us via Message on TWC, Message on ModDB, our facebook and twitter pages or E-Mail (info@imperialsplendour.com). What we want you to do is simply report all bugs you find and give us some feedback on the gameplay.
In addition, we now have a Discord-Server here.
That's all for today, have a nice 3rd Advent!

Imperial Splendour - Rise of the Republic - campaign map sneak peek:
This is a sneak peek of the campaign map. I was pretty advanced in this bug-hunting campaign. So there are many changes compared to the campaign map at the game start. Enjoy!
British Riflemen in action
British Riflemen during a test campaign doing what they are best in - sniping at French generals.
Caribbean Battle - Battle for Guadeloupe
Take a look at the new Caribbean colonial units. Britain will get some special units while the other factions will have access to generic units.
And yes Robert Craufurd is a recruitable general. I shipped him as commander to the Caribbean.
Caribbean Battle - Battle for Guadeloupe - Deployment
Next part of the Battle for Guadeloupe. You see the final deployment of the right wing of Craufurd's army.
