    Default Optimising performance for M2TW

I need more Trebuchets for my army but I have to wait 2 turns before I can add them to the recruitment slot. How do I increase the availability so they are available all the time? I know now why the game kept crashing and thats because I was using that stupid Trainer where you can unlimited movement, Infinite recruits etc etc etc. So I ain't using that trainer anymore.

you cannot, they are all limited to 3 max, advance buildings allows for more varied types of siege weapons to be build, that is all.

You need to edit your export_descr_buildings file. Find siege_works city and siege_works castle. Find the recruit_pool line for Trebuchet for your faction. The second number in the line is the refresh rate for the unit. Unmodded, it should be .04. Theorectically, you could change it to 1 and have a unit available every turn, but you could blow up your computer and get a CTD. The highest refresh rate I've seen in the file is .07, so maybe you should try that first. Remember to back up the file first. Oh, and if you do edit the file, EVERY faction your share that unit with will be able to recruit trebuchets just as fast as you can, so beware of falling rocks. And cows.

Thanks for the tip but I can't edit that file. I had to uninstall and reinstall the game again because the v1.1 patch crashed my game everytime I went into a battle. No mods have been installed either. I only installed the v1.1 patch.

    But....

I would like to know if there's a patch or something that will allow me to play the game without having the CD in CD Rom drive?

why? i play sc, m2tw and bf2 online mostly, i have valid serial number, otherwise u cant go mp, and i have ***SoMEThiNG*** to not switch between dvd's all the time... and i dont consider myselft a pirate for that...

Yeah do I need to post a picture of myself holding the game with the serial key?

Reason I would like a NO CD patch:

-So the drive doesn't wear out when playing the game
-So I don't have to take out another CD thats already in the drive to play the game.

Does not matter if you lergally own the game, no-cd cracks are illegal, and any links posted to them will be removed.

I would also advise you stop discussing this matter as well.

    Yep me too.

    Next question:

My computer is a Compaq Presario SR1738NX. It an:

    AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+
    1 GB of Ram
Graphics card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Series (Built in card)

I've noticed that gameplay lags a little bit when there are lot of units converging on the battlefield. But I went though graphic settings in the game and set them to low but its still the same.

    Suggestions:

    Upgrade Graphics card

    or

Is there a tweak for this game to make it not lag so much.

I've also played Rome Total War on ths machine but haven't had a gameplay lagging problem like this. Any suggestions?

Upgrade your Graphics Card....onboard Graphics Cards suck balls, period.

That said the game engine isn't designed to handle more than about 25000 men on the battlefield (Maximum), and your cpu isn't top of the line either, so your probaly looking at about 10000 men meaning slowdowns, with 15000 being a definite slide show.

Hmmm...... well I was thinking about getting a better PC for doing visual effects and playin games but don't know what to get that'll get me by. I can spare at least $1500 to get a new PC. I've thought about getting an Alienware computer but then I would have to sell one of my kidneys on eBay to afford their computers lol

EDIT: This is nice!!! I just got me a new Nvidia Graphics card from Walmart and the damn thing doesn't work because the card doesn't have Pixel shader 1.1 or better. What the hell!!

Do your research before you go out and buy a card..

Now I'm torn between getting a graphics card or a new computer because of this statement:

Ok I was able to get an ATI Radeon 9200 Series Graphic Card from my friend, which supports that stupid shader 1.1 thingie and have it installed in my PC.

    But.....

Either this card sucks or I definetly need a new PC.

    Why?

Because now when I play either M2 TW or Rome TW it lags really bad. On the campaign map for Rome TW I move the mouse to the right or left and it lags. In M2 TW in the main menu page where it has the animation playing in the background, that lags really bad.

    But.....

Before I installed this card I was using the onboard ATI Radeon graphics card and Rome TW plays fine with adjustments to the graphic settings. M2 TW plays fine until I get into a battle with alot of units and grass and buildings on the screen even when I made some adjustments to the graphic properties.

    But....

I'm a little ticked that this ATI Radeon 9200 Series card isn't working correctly, or I haven't calibrated it right or something! What do you guys think?

    Processor issue?
    Card issue?
whole computer issue and shut up and get a new one?

Might try downloading the latest drivers from ATI's website. I use an nVidia card myself and have been kind of surprised at the graphics quality on my 4 year old computer. I wasn't sure I'd even get to play the battles because of slowdown issues, but it seems to handle battles quite well.
