Scouts in York find that another battle had recently taken place. All the Danes had fled back to the city in defeat, having suffered grievous losses.

While the Northern army continues from Towthorpe to York, Perceval does send another 100 hobelars out east and southeast to scout, with fifty men going in each direction. They're to go as far as Hull, looking for any Danish reinforcements that might have landed before Mar's fleet defeated theirs, while naturally avoiding hostile contact should they find a real threat.

the scouts follow the path for some time before a storm comes on. The rain goes down for several days washing away any trail they could have followed.
