    Default Village garrisons

Is it intentional that most villages have no garrison whatsoever? I am playing as Nabatea, and I noticed that out of all the options of the village centre building, only one provides a garrison, which really just makes it so that its the only viable option, since otherwise even rebels can take it over the turn they spawn

Those settlements are probably Allied states, depicted by the main settlement building, you can demolish it and replace it with something that provides a garrison.

Another question to add though, regarding garrisons, is why some garrisons are so High Tier? For example as Egypt, in Tyros the garrison is 4 Royal spears, 3 Royal swords, and 3 Machimoi. It feels a bit weird to only have top tier and royal units guarding a standard settlement?

My concern with this is the AI building priority and if it will be too easy to take settlements.
Shogun 2, no thanks I will stick with Kingdoms SS.

The Roman garrisons were just reworked today. Hellenistic garrisons are next on the list. The ones that are considered complete are really the Eastern ones, and Nabatea is close. The Hellenic chains have far too many elite units by comparison. Our goal here is to make cities defendable with the base garrison, but with better prospects of defending if you add barracks. Now, all Roman chains will have troops, but Amicus and Libera smaller and less proficient garrisons than their counterparts.

Is the intent to defend against a full stack or just a smaller one? Hoping the later, though be nice if the Garrison buildings gave enough to really defend against a decent event. Otherwise, I don't think they are ever with the slot for the cost and low values otherwise.

High tier main settlements tend to provide enough to defend a settlement now, even against relatively large forces. The size is about 8-12 units (high tiers), depending on chain, starting off at ~5 units at the lowest tier. With anything at tier 3 or below, you would benefit significantly from even a small additional garrison. In my eyes, the garrison chain has the value of being ideal for border towns that are frequently besieged.

Ahhh, that makes sense. The problem with this mod is that there are just so many awesome choices that it's so hard to choose a "bland" option like garrison. XD. Mod is great and so much fun, and the intent makes a ton of sense. I just keep restarting, not enough time to sit down and burn through as I read every little thing y'all put in.

oh well, I just found it out that out of 4 avaliable options for the small settlement only one gives garrisons, because for province capitals they all do

The AI can't handle this change at all, I just invaded a faction and 2 out of 3 settlements had no garrisons so I instantly occupied them without even having to siege, just walked my stack right in. Also, when upgrading Alexandria tier 3 vassal city centre has a garrison, but tier 4 doesn't which kinda makes the upgrade a downgrade. It just seems really arbitrary and pointless and like I said the AI can't handle it at all
