    Icon3 Battle AI Behaviour

    First of all , I would like to thank the Modders for Giving us such an amazing mod .

    I would like to highlight , the Battle AI performance .

    If you watch the below campaign battle played by Jackie Fish ( starts @14:00 minutes) , the AI was using battle reserves and it did not send all its units to clash and blob at once . It was like a set piece battle and was very interesting.



    But the AI was not like this anymore . In my playthrough the AI was just same old AI which rushes and swarms /blobs me. Modders could you please try to work on this and make the AI use reserves like in the above video , that would be very much appreciated

    Honestly I've tried for over a year to get it to do this consistently. I'll poke around see if I can get it to do it again. usually only happens 1:3 times though. Usually needs the AI to have missile superiority.

    Exactly My friend.


    You may find my analysis below . I have played numerous pitched battles against AI (Not Siege battles) at various difficulty. And i think it would help you with troubleshooting


    1. Attacking AI keeps proper formation and marches . But it just sends all it lines at once and blobs
    2. Defending AI keeps reserves sometimes . 1 out of 4 times the battle against Defending AI looks very much historical. It keeps proper formation and keeps it reserves intact until the front line collapses
    3. Army Composition with Missile superiority keeps proper reserves.
    4. Play as Carthage and at the battle of Zama , the Roman Battle AI maches with proper formation but just simply throws all the lines right at your face. Huge Blob(Like Cannae)
    5. Play as Rome and at the battle of Zama , the Cartheginian AI really does a good job . It keeps reserves and it supports the frontline only when it is wavering. IN fact i will upload my Battle and it turned out truly awesome. Little to No blobbing


    Final Thoughts
    * Tweak may be required to increase AI army composition to have missile superiority
    * Running speed should be a little bit slower. At current state , running is way faster.
    * Give attacking AI a little bit defensive behaviour.


    I know its really hard , but this is just my opinion and will make battles more enjoyable


    P.S (By battles i do not mean Siege Battles anywhere above)

    Does it need to have the superiority through the course of battle to keep acting smart or just at the start, to "switch" to this behavior pattern?

    At the start, but it can switch mid battle, usually if you start winning its tiny AI mind just collapses and everything charges.
