What do you guys think should be the next war movie. Should it be about Ghengis Khan, Justinian, Aleric the Goth, Hannibal....

I was thinking Hannibal Barca, I've never seen or heard of any good movies about him. And with the modern CG abilities, that would be an awsome movie to watch, imo.

What do you guys think should be the next great war movie, any time period.

Something really original... NOT focussing on a great conqueror. Like fictional characters in a historical setting. Like Gladiator.

That sounds like a good idea. I still like the idea of Hannibal a bit more though. I have never heard of any movies about him, and there should be.

WW1 trench warfare - the Somme or Paschendale or something.

Or a modern remake of "All Quiet on the Western Front".

It would be totally AWESOME with the explosion visual technology used in "Saving Private Ryan"!

a crusader ransomed by the Sacreans to the Mongols, who the Mongols just released and then the Crusaders marched home.

Really happened and would make for an interesting tale.

I have no idea, but I hope so. I've been wanting to see a Hannibal movie for a long time now, but no go so far.

I'd love another 'nam movie at the moment as well as a movie set during World War One on The Battle of the Somme, WW1 films are scarce.

Ultimate movie right now for me though would be a film depicting the events of the 1798 rebellion in Ireland in all their glory/carnage.

Vin Diesel as...Hannibal? Oh please God, no!

I'm reading a book about the Battle of Salamis right now and it also includes the ending of the Battle of Thermopylae as well. I think that if someone made a movie based on the book it would be amazing.

he's actually a decent actor (if you've seen any of his non action movies) and apparently he's done a lot of research on Hannibal himself, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I'd rather like to see a movie about the last campaign of Napoleon, i.e the Waterloo campaign. Even as something covering such a short campaign, it would still be a fairly epic-scale movie. Nicholas Cage would probably be a good choice for Napoleon, or perhaps Jason Schwarzmann. If he wasn't dead, and were this a few decades ago, I'd say Marlon Brando.

Though, I think a film about Frederick the Great would be nice, with Patrick Stuart of Frederick. It'd have to be an epic film, though, to deal with such an epic personality. Definitely SYW setting.

Yes, for a very limited part of the population.

Hannibal seems like a very good concept, because we already have a great story that just needs some modern movie visuals to make it to the cinema.

Or as some one else have mentioned, a fictional character in a relatively historical enviroment... Gladiator!!

Vin Diesel? oh please god no... it'll be another Alexander... Vin diesel just isn't right at all... Ciaran Hines at least.

The whole thing could be in flashback as Hannibal awaits the arrival of the Romans. He tells of his great victories and how he kicked ass etc. Then at the end he poisons himself.

A movie about Stamford bridge and Hastings would be good too.
