(Moving on, then... Those who want to join should just rp yourselves here.)

Those who decided to join with the ranger and his company reconvened just within the boundaries of Dale, two days after their fateful meeting within the tavern. Hallas, who looked a little cleaner than last he had been seen, stood by a throng of horses and ponies, saddlebags likely full of supplies for their journey. It was just after dawn, and so the sun was breaking through the clouds on the horizon, looming in the distance behind the Lonely Mountain. But their road was south, away from the shadow of Erebor and into the Mirkwood, leaving both Dale and the sun's light behind them.

Fervir arrived spear slung over his back, and felt a sense of relieve. He was leaving this dirty smelly city of men to go back into the forest. He had been on edge ever since entering this place and he was very happy to leave it now. Looking around he surveyed the other members of the group in front of him.

Thorik made his last adjustments to his saddle, and securely strapped the supplies from his patron on either side of Brego his horse.

Thorik had been largely content in his time in the city, and found he actually had much in common with his companions, many of whom lived in the wild like did, not in a built up settlement like Dale.

Nevertheless, he was glad to be leaving the city, he belonged outdoors, even if that meant entering the Mirkwood.

He glanced over at the one who called himself Fervir, and said,

”What brings you to join our journey friend?”

Fervir looked at the man suprised to see the man talking to him. Thorix he believed he was called.

"I heard there was a chance for a man to prove himself." He said carefully. He had to prove he was as worthy of a warrior as his father. "You?"

Sensing that Fervir wasn’t giving a lot away, Thorik replied

”Aye, about the same. And extinguish as much evil from that forest as I can, too.”

The elf girl, Milnith, traveled alongside her new companions, though she paid them little mind. She held her bow close at hand and kept her hood up concealing her feartures, though even that did little enough to hide her ears which pushed up against the fabric of the hood. She carried with her a satchel of food, the same on which she had lived coming from her home in the woodland realm, her daggers still clung to her hips, but were concealed by the drapery of her cloak.

Beorn was the first of the Men of Dale to arrive. He'd badgered his father for a new cloak, one that he now proudly wore. It was heavier than he was used to, but the fabric was the finest money could buy, at least on such short notice. It'd keep him warm in the night, and the deep hue would perhaps conceal him from foes. On his hip he'd strapped a light war axe. It wasn't new, but a visit to the blacksmith ensured it did hold a good edge. He'd learned how to ride a horse fairly well, but still it took him a little while to go through the motions again, to get a proper feel for the slender mare he'd borrowed from his father's stables. The horse's flank was adorned with a shield painted dark blue. He hadn't spent nearly enough time gathering provisions, truth be told, but his saddlebags were filled with some food and drink.

"Hail," he announced himself as he approached the few of the fellowship that had already gathered. "Hallas," he acknowledged the still mysterious fellow with a nod. "I hope everyone is well rested. I'm eager to make good time today."

He nods slowly, "I welcome a fighter who knows how to handle a weapon at my back." He pauses looking around, few that he knew, "What do you think of the others?" He wasn't sure, how and he doubted some of these men would last long out in the forest.

Viduimer was the fifth to rejoin the rest of Hallas' new party, his shield slung over his back and his sword hanging in its scabbard from his silver-lined belt: about the only possession of his that wasn't as plain and austere as his traveling clothes. As he moved to hang his bags of provisions onto the saddle of his steed - a rangy, temperamental, scarred stallion who'd seen him through more skirmishes on the road than he could count - he nodded to Hallas and the rest of his new companions, mutely acknowledging their presence.

Hallas watched as they trickled in. Though their number had grown fewer, he could not afford to wait any longer. As Brand said, they had to make good time upon the road today.

"Let us go, then. You will have plenty of chances to prove your worthiness as warriors, I am certain."

He threw the stablehand some coin for the trouble, then gracefully climbed atop the chestnut coloured stallion that he'd picked out for himself. The others likewise had horses (or ponies, depending on their size), and he waited for them to join him in trotting through the now open gate. Dale was still small for a city, and had not grown much beyond the wooden walls that had marked the boundaries when men had first settled this place, and so beyond those gates awaited only the open road south.

"Choose yourself a horse. Try not to get it killed. I paid good coin for them."

He called back, dawdling as they chose amongst themselves. They were decent enough, for horseflesh, though certainly nothing spectacular. It seemed the Wilderland had little to offer in terms of livestock.

Milith chose beast based off its presence not any discernable characteristics like size, temperament, or strength. She quickly settled on one, a white mare, though her legs below the knee were covered in black hair. She placed slender fingers on its forehead and ran them down to her snout, producing a small piece of produce for the creature to enjoy. With that she deftly mounted her companion with little exertion, though as she brought the beast out, attempting to follow Hallas, she felt more than a bit uncomfortable now that she was in the saddle. After all her people made exclusive use of noble elk mounts () and such was the natural means of transport in the woodland realm.

In a grove of trees off of the main path heading towards Lake Town, Narieth would look up at the leaves, seeing the sun through the leaves as it continues to ascend towards it's zenith in the sky as she finishes eating a piece of lembras with some edible berries and mushrooms she had picked in her travels the day prior, having left Dale the day following the incident in the tavern following the Celduin south towards the long lake and Laketown, where she would then travel along the banks of the Forest River back into the Mirkwood. "Hm..." she then sifts through her satchel, noting the few herbs, a few pieces of cram and other edibles she had left, and one or two other trinkets picked up from the forest. "Probably should forage for a few more herbs before reaching Esgaroth.." Narieth mutters as she picks up the few remaining berries and eats them, followed by her picking up her bow to restring it, before she places it on her back. She then picks up her spear and other few items scattered around, then sets out to continue her journey south.

    Thorik leaned closer to Fervir

”Between you and me, they’re a wee bit of a mixed bunch. But you can’t judge a book by its cover, as they say. The ah, ‘softer’ ones among us could yet prove themselves”

Thorik swung a leg over his steed, and set of on the path southwards with the rest of the group. It would be a long venture ahead, and there were no guarantees he would return.

"I'm sure there will be plenty of chance to." The young Beorning says with a grin, he really looked forward to entering the woods. He would have a chance to prove he was as fine a warrior as his father then.

Looking at the horses he turned and selected a larger animal. He was not an excellent judge of horse flesh by any means. And the horse seemed to sense his hesitation.

Kalf surveyed the assortment of horses and donkeys, eyeing them intently hoping to find a satisfactory mount. Near the rear of the herd he spotted one that seemed adequate, a well built red dunn. Approaching the beast Kalf reached into his pack and withdrew an apple, cutting it in half with a knife he hesitantly he offered up half which promptly disappeared. With his other hand he gently brushed the horses neck, feeling warm taught muscle underneath. 'Yes this would do'

Moving around to the side he secured his pack and then pulled himself up onto its back, grunting from the effort; around him his new traveling companions seemed to be doing likewise. Adjusting his posture slightly Kalf and waited for their departure.

And so the party set off down the beaten path that led towards what the Dalesmen had dubbed "The Long Lake", a body of water that marked the southernmost border of the fledgling kingdom of Dale; it was but a few days south. A small fishing village, known to the locals as Esgaroth, had sprung up upon the water's edge, the inhabitants barely numbering above a few hundred. It had little to offer Hallas and his companions, and so they only stopped to see that the horses drank their fill before continuing upon their way. They would turn westwards, their road now leading towards the Greenwood and Thranduil's Realm.

This road was ill travelled and equally ill kept, for there was no need to enter the forest. Rumours were enough to keep most travelerrs at bay, so it was surprising to Hallas to see an abandoned cart upon the road upon the outskirts of the forest, where open plain was beginning to give way to tooded wilderness. The horses were still tethered to it, and whatever it was carrying was still intact. But there was no man, or anything else, in sight.

"Who's foolish enough to travel alone in these parts?"

Wondered Hallas aloud, sliding out of the saddle. Warily, he wandered over to the abandoned vehicle, searching for some sign of life.

"No body... And nothing's been taken. Come, take a look."

He looked back towards his companions, then scanned the tree-line, a furrow forming in his brow.

Brand moved his steed past the cart, peering into the treeline. "I don't see anything in the treeline, but that cart makes me uncomfortable," he said, putting a hand on the hilt of his axe. "An ambush? Hallas, I don't suppose you can detect orcs?"
