I found Pontus the most interesting and rewarding choice for its starting position. A lot of opportunities and a lot of difficulties as well.
Also Bactria is interesting because of ethnic diversity of its armies: you may find indian, greek, steppe and barbarian units in your armies eventually. Indians were made by me btw, hope you will enjoy!
Personally I recommend 'Low Upkeep Campaign' if you are not a masochist. This option should be renamed to 'Normal Upkeep', while standard RTR8 campaign is something like 'Ridiculously High Upkeep' one.

Thanks for your feedback and lol indeed: my playing style consist mainly of very high taxation, genocide, enslavement, killing people who surrendered, and all other good things in life :3
