Haha. Glad to see someone have a similar concern. Basically the tech tree will funnel military technology into one large tech unlock that works similar to the Roman reformations (one big f***in upgrade). That all your units get a free upgrade to the next tech. Meaning that your 13th century units would immediately have access to the 14th century version of the unit. The hope is that the AI would recognize the free upgrade as well.
this will need a huge tech tree and a lot of research but this is not 100% gurantee thou, may you use another approach to the problem at hand like making a somehow building tree for every era and to get the next era units you must finalize the last one that will take more time to building and eliminate recruiting of both eras units at same era and the elite old units may not be upgraded,but will be up-to service untill it perish in battle or retired to reduce upkeep like realistic eras change , hope to help and i can make handy in supervising my thoughts to real project too![]()
