The Qidri:
The Qidri aka the Qedarite Kingdom, or Qedar (Arabic: مملكة قيدار, Mamlakat Qaydar), was a largely nomadic, ancient Arab tribal confederation. Described as "the most organized of the Northern Arabian tribes", at the peak of its power in the 6th century BCE it had a kingdom and controlled a vast region in Arabia, especially the incense trade to Gaza in the time of the Achaemenid Empire. The first documented mention of Qedar is from a stele (c. 737 BCE) of Tiglath-Pileser III, a king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, that lists leaders from the western part of Mesopotamia that pay him tribute.[2][18] To the Assyrians, the Qedarites were known as Qidri or qi-id-ri with other cuneiform inscriptions also using Qadri, Qidarri, Qidari and Qudari (Neo Babylonian).[5][10][12] Zabibe (c. 738 BCE) is listed among those paying tribute under the title "queen of the Qidri and the Aribi" (Aribi meaning "Arabs").[19]
After Zabibe the assyrian texts mentioned three other queens (Samsi, Yatie, Te'elkhunu) as her warlike successors on the quedarite throne.

Gerrhaea:
Gerrha (Arabic: جرهاء) was an ancient city of Eastern Arabia, on the west side of the Persian Gulf. It s under threat of attack by Antiochus III the Great in 205–204 BC, but his forces renounced hostilities once they received a tribute of 500 silver talents from the inhabitants. The city was described by Strabo as rich city "with fancy tools made of gold and silver. He described the Gerrhans further as descendants from chaldean migrants of Babylon, who build their houses of salt and repaired them by the application of salt water and as richest of all Arabs because of their trade. In the 9 century the city was destroyed by the Qarmatians.

Mascat:
Mascat has a long history as trading port. Highly likely it was part of the region of Magan, which is known from sumerian texts from 2300 BC as source for copper and diorite. It was also famed for its shipbuilding and its maritime capabilities. Archaeological finds dating from this time show trade not only with the Indus Valley ( remnants of Harappan pottery) and Sumer, but also with Iran and Bactria. Muscat's notability as a port was acknowledged as early as the 1st century CE by the Greek geographer Ptolemy, who referred to it as Cryptus Portus (the Hidden Port), and by Pliny the Elder, who called it Amithoscuta. Mascat fell to a Sassanid invasion in the 3rd century CE, under the rule of Shapur I.

Ma'in:
The Minaean people were the inhabitants of the kingdom of Ma'in (Old South Arabian mʿn, vocalized Maʿīn; modern Arabic معين Maʿīn) in modern-day Yemen (600 - 150 BC).
The Minaeans, like some other Arabian and Yemenite kingdoms of the same period, were involved in the extremely lucrative spice trade, especially frankincense and myrrh.
The extent of their long distance trade is also shown by the presence of Minaean merchants in the Aegean.
The Minaeans had a different social structure to the rest of the Old South Arabians. Their king was the only one involved in lawmaking, along with a council of elders, who in Ma'īn represented the priesthood as well as families of high social class. The Minaeans were divided into groups of various sizes, led by a very high official called the kabīr, appointed once every two years, who was in charge of one or sometimes all of the trading posts.

Nasamones:
The Nasamones were a nomadic berber tribe and centered in the oases of Augila and Siwa in the Libyan Desert. They used war chariots, like the Garamantes. They were known to attack the Greek colonies in Cyrenaica. During the Peloponnesian War, the citizens of Euesperides received aid from the Spartan general Gylippus, who helped defend the town from the Nasamones on his way to Sicily. Later, Pliny the Elder recounts that the Nasamones defeated the Psylli tribe in a war, expelling them from the area. The Roman emperor Augustus attempted to pacify the desert tribes, and sent proconsul Publius Sulpicius Quirinus to govern Creta et Cyrenaica in 15 BC. The Nasamones were temporarily subjugated by the Romans, and remained fairly autonomous. According to Cassius Dio, they rose up a century later when the Romans tried to extort money from them. They began raiding the coastal settlements again, until they were pushed back to the interior by Gnaeus Suellius Flaccus.

Garamantes:
The Garamantes were Iron Age Berber tribes, which founded a kingdom between 400 BC - 600 AD in modern-day southern Libya about 180.000 squarekilometres with 8 major towns. Their capital was called Garama. The Garamantes constructed a network of underground water tunnels, called Foggara, and shafts to mine the fossil water from under the limestone layer under the desert sand. The network allowed agriculture to flourish, and used a system of slave labor to keep it maintained. The Garamantes were farmers and merchants. Their diet consisted of grapes, figs, barley, and wheat. They traded wheat, salt and slaves in exchange for imported wine and olive oil, oil lamps and Roman tableware. According to Strabo and Pliny, the Garamantes quarried amazonite in the Tibesti Mountains.
Tacitus wrote that they assisted the rebel Tacfarinas and raided Roman coastal settlements. According to Pliny the Elder, Romans eventually grew tired of Garamantian raiding and Lucius Cornelius Balbus captured 15 of their settlements in 19 BC. In 202, Septimius Severus captured the capital city of Garama.[3]
As fossil water is a non-renewable resource, over the six centuries of the Garamantian kingdom, the ground water level fell.[5] The kingdom declined and fragmented.
