    2nd bit is in the name of the place pictured - but also could be a generic name for that sort of geographically shaped area...

    I'm learning a lot of expressions so far, but I think the one I'm looking for is perhaps more arcane.

    The second pic is to be taken quite literally, but for the first one I'm looking for something more slang like.
