Thread: The catchphrase game

I am really struggling with this one. All I can think of are a few ideas about the isolated images, but nothing coherent overall. In case it helps spark other people's thoughts, here's what I've thought of so far:

    Image 1: victory, triumph

    Image 2: stars

Image 3: gun, overkill, foolishness, help

    Image 4:

    Image 5: justice

I will give this a go since folks are not responding, Ad Astra per Aspera?

Soren, can you give us an update on whether or not realm's guess is on point?

It is a quite famous quote by an American.

I would say your breakdown of the images is more on point, although some of them are a little different than what you picked out.

Image 1: invade, conquer, victory, triumph

    Image 2: world, universe

    Image 3: shoulder, cooperation, together

    Image 4: feed, give, provide

    Image 5: justice, judge

Can anyone connect the dots? I struggle.

Any chance you might be able to give us a hint, Soren? Maybe like in what direction the quote goes? Is it uplifting, rousing, aggressive, pacific, etc.?

This is an interesting one and likely a hard one. In spirit of cooperation, I think the picture below could be the Earl of Gloucester from King Lear. I believe in the upper one the horse is bucking, if a generic reference to horses or riding does not cut it.

No, the first picture aims to evoke a cowboy exclamation and the second picture is from a Greek tragedy.

Hahahahahahahhahaha. Given the hints, I have a guess. Is it "Yippeie-kie-yay, mother-**"?

From "cowboy exclamation" and "Greek tragedy", that is all I can think of.

    Well, wasn't that entertaining?

Yippee-ki-yay MF it is and I believe it's a true catchphrase.

    Where are you from BTW?

In the film John McClane does say he "was always kind of partial to Roy Rogers".

I hope Oedipus Rex is not the only of the classical works that you are aware of.

    The ground is yours.

If he got "Yippee-ki-yay MF" from that, I wager he is from genius land.

Haha, an interesting and unusual riddle! Kudos to both of you!

I'm from the States, and yeah, that is definitely truly a catchphrase. What made me laugh so hard was your clue of "Greek tragedy" as a way to get to motherf-er. Hilarious!

Right now I am super swamped with work, so if anyone has a riddle ready to roll, feel free to post it. If nothing is up by this evening, I will post something.

I understand that this is rather obscure too.

The first picture is from a rather disappointing (5 episodes to cancellation) sitcom from the year 2000.
The title was Talk to Me.

    Which would make the catchphrase:

Well, if the put it in T-shirts it's a catchphrase alright.
