I must Attack somebody because I'm broke and 10,000 soldiers cost a lot to upkeep.

    Hello.

I played once as Turks too. and Mongols invasion was a really big problem.

when mongols camed they attacked antioch and took antioch so antioch changed to MONGOLS CAPITAL i attacked with my generals full LEGIONS ,mongol generals..i won only with good tactics.. i beat like 5 mongol generals.and then i offered them an VASSAL ! they accepted so they becomed my TURK's VASSAL. so i hadnt problems for some of like 50 years when another Mongol Invasion Generals arrived. so they attacked me and gained their indenpendence since then my WAR is concentrated with mongols , so if u try to do something BETTER it's hard. u have to fight with mongols for a long time.. and attack EGYPTIANS take their lands because if u dont attack dont worry.. they will attack/

It sounds like you have a great challenge, which is what a game should offer.
I wonder if perhaps being more aggressive earlier and taking the Egyptian lands (with its great wealth) BEFORE the Mongols arrive would be helpful?

Well they would still pillage and rape your settlements upside down, but it's all about lowering their numbers piece for piece. A huge victory vs the Mongols is not to win the battle, but to take down as many as you can and get the HELL out of there .

Actually I had the best chances to beat the Mongols as the Turks than any other faction. You have the best terrain for defense, and plenty of bridges to use also. Plant a force of spearmen & crossbows/archers at the bridges. try to bring a treb or two with you to fire cattle to help demoralise them. Use the spearmen on the bridges close to the exit on your end, and the archers to shoot at the units at the enemy reinforcements as they approach your men (use fire arrows). Trebs launch the cattle at the area, peppering the entrance of the bridge, which damages their morale. (switch to flaming boulders before you use all the cows, since u might need more if another army appears to help). Then dig in and just keep them on the bridge.

The turks have the best elite spearmen in the game, and better yet theyr'e produced in cities (Janissaries I think they're called.)

On mountain areas, I like a defensive formation on a mountain, with spearmen to the front, archers next, treb, and then my general. Watch the morale of your troops and be ready to blow ur horn if needed. .

The secret I found to fighting mongols was hut them where it hurts. Morale. They're always going to have more units than you, so target their morale, and seek to kill their generals. [Note. I usually lost 2/5 battles, and won all my bridge fights. If at all possible, fight at the bridges. You have the advantage there]

On the campaign map, try to kill some generals using assassins before you commit your armies. Don't bother with then generals a few turns away. Seek to help your armies close by first.

So for me, my priority is to cover bridges first (don't use full stacks, they'll just try to go around you. use 3/4 of a stack which makes you an appealing target), then the next priority is get the good mountain passes (zoom in on the campaign map to get the best position to stand on).

Trebs tend to win battles for me, so I like to have at least two with me.
Catapults are good also if you can get a horizontal attack on a bridge the enemy is on. But Trebs are the best overall because of the cows.

I always take out Egypt before the Mongols come. Why? Because you need the money their cities produce, but more importantly, you need the bridges in their territory covered. Take them out early by calling a Jihad against Jerusalem, which gives you some nice Jihad units cheaply which can be used after to take Egypt out in short order. Then take out the Bzantium Empire, because you really, really want Constantinople to block the crusading armies that march on Jerusalem.

my advice: wait for them behind your high walls and build ballista towers and (and cannon towers if possible) don't go on fighting in open battle because if you do you will have heavy casualties because of their heavy crazy strong cavalary

no way, it's not a good advice, it's a way to waste the game, you definitely should go again them face by face, build some artillery (if you got them already), if not, build aload of trebutchets ( but it won't work really well because the mongols will use the fire arrows to destroy them), they have around 10 stack, right ? so:
    preparing:
if u can, build 10-20 full stack, if not 8 will work , one stack compose by:
    4-6 artillery
6-8 heavy cavalry (smth called Quapulu or smth likewise, i don't remmeber the name, it's hard to spell)
the rest build sipahi, they're very good again horse archer, remember upgrade their amor
by that time , your army have a load of good experienced troops already, retrain all of them, upgrade their amor, weapon, go on a jihad to gain experience bonus
    strategy:
try to separate their force, remember unite all your force at one, if you leave a stack alone, it's pretty dangerous ,use one-one battle at a time, once you reduce them to 4-5 full stack, you can go on autoresolve, now try 3,4vs1, they lose, so they will be separated far away from each other, don't try hunt them down now, first create a fishing-net around them, then start a pingpong battle, wipe them out
don't stop train & send new troops
    battle tactic :
first concentre all your artillery on their artillery (if they have), second go to their horse archer with the help of our horse archer, ignore the foot acher, then go to the lancers, after that, the left-over without any protection foot archer is a piece of cake
it's just my experience, sorry for a wall of text and my english, i'm just a anti-mongol& timurid enthusiasme ( i don't hate them, i love fighting against them)
finally, the only question is money, all wars come to this question , but i was once my sell defeated 11,5 full stack of Mongols with only 6 full stack ,don't waste this , btw

I didn't like the Mongols taking Greece and expanding into Europe (I was Spain, but it's irrelevant), so I took assassins and spies, and exterminated all but one family member: The Khan. He was used to assassinations, and therefore a 10-subterfuge assassin had a chance of 3%. What I did was tracking down the Khan, taking my best night fighting general and an army, and sailed and landed near Corinth. I then leaped through the forests and mountains (ambushing in forests so the horde couldn't spot me), confronted their leader, who was travelling alone next to 3 full armies, and engaged him in a night fight so that the reinforcements could not help him. His bodyguard fought to the last man, and so the Khan fell, alongside with the Golden Horde. The Timurids, however, are another story... I hope that a crusade and my most experienced troops can overcome them, or at the very least hold them off.

As England in my Campain, they just destroyed Hungry, Turky, Egypt, and Part of the Moors. Then the Timurids show up and just own Russia... I think they have one territory left. Ive fought the Mongols on three differant crusades... honestly they would be easy maybe on 1 on 1, but they travel in full stack packs, 2-3 Full stacks and just hang around each other. Smart. I beat them only once in a siege battle for Constin. and beat them, but in open ground, Im just not good enough to fight a 3 stack battle.

3 Spies, 2 Assassins to be exact. No failures, lucky me. I myself loved the commando part, deep behind the enemy lines with 2000 men just to take down one.
