Default [suggestion] Discord server for Europa Barbarorum community

    Hello,

I wasn't sure who to contact about this and did not want to put anything else on top of someone's task list.

I would like to suggest having a discord server (https://discordapp.com).

Some of my favorite games/mods have made discord servers (for instance for Rome 2, there is Divide et Impera with maybe 300 or so members in there). People could voice chat, change files fast between them and have the community heads more approachable let's say then posting on a forum. Not sure how familiar people are with the software, but it is quite handy.

For example, the Divide et Impera team linked their Discord account perks with a Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/divideetimperamod).

I am not advertising any of the software, I just been with Europa Barbarorum since Rome 1 time and I think that those tools could be useful for this community as well. Hope this helps.

*I've been on Discord for a while also administrating a community on that platform, so if you have any questions about the software, don't hesitate to ask me.*

That is actually a really good idea. I have to say, Discord is an excellent platform for a community to interact with each other as much as the developers in this case.

I'm afraid you'll get much more community interaction than developer interaction if you do. We're pretty much maxed out as it is on the fora and social media, adding another channel is going to be a step too far.

Just taking advantage of it being said here. If there was a patreon related to EBII I would certainly participate. The work you guys produce is amazing and is by far the pinacle of TW experience I ever had. Any way to give some back to you guys would be the least I could do as I sadely don't have the technical capabilities to help.

I'm not sure getting paid for work on a mod would be legal actually. We do offer people the option of donating to keep our internal server and data repository running however, though I don't think we're in any dire straits atm (would have to check with the admin).

I tend to edit my posts once or several times after writing and uploading them. Please keep this in mind when reading a recent post of mine. Also, should someone, for some unimaginable reason, wish to rep me, please add your username in the process, so I can at least know whom to be grateful towards.

    My thanks in advance.

Indeed, putting specific requests to cover costs directly incurred by creating the mod is one thing; but if the dev team start getting paid we enter an entirely different realm of regulation and potential legal issues.
