Hopefully there weren't any injuries. Also hoping against all hope that this was just a tragic accident and not another terrorist attack.

Only those ignorant of Greece's politics would blame the Muslims on this one. Its all about the context.
The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.

I would like to believe that too, but embassies don't have a habit of blowing up randomly, especially representing the USA.

Would you believe that! No injuries initially reported. Wow! But that still doesn't tell us anything about why the explosion happened.

they bomb us, we bomb someone back. The world keep turnin'![]()
the politically correct answer:
islam had nothing to do with it, and even if it did, it didn't.
You people are really jumpy....Police said a rocket was fired from street level into the front of the embassy, landing in a toilet.
Fire engines and police cordoned off the area around the fortified building. The US State Department said there were no injuries.
The BBC correspondent in Athens says the attack is more likely the work of a left-wing radical group than al-Qaeda.
it's not surprising with all the anti-American feeling around at the moment. The US embassy is one of the most fortified and tightly guarded buildings in the region and is frequently the target of protests in a country brimming with potent anti-Americanism, the BBC's Malcolm Brabant says.
In February 1996, it suffered minor damage when unknown attackers - thought to be leftist radicals - fired a rocket at it.
So your going to bomb Greece now?they bomb us, we bomb someone back. The world keep turnin'

Let me ask you this, if you heard "airstrike hits suspected terrorist camp" on the news...what would your first assumption be on who was involved in the airstrike? This is why when someone hears western embassy and bomb the first thing that pops into ones head is muslim extremist.
Expressing what ones thoughts are on an event is hardly acting on it. Now if someone saw the story and ran out and killed a muslim then yeah but the fact is a large % of these types of events are indeed tied into Islamic extremist. It is natural that the first thought that pops into ones head is that they are behind it and I fail to see what the difference is if one thinks that and one says it outloud. Remember we are talking about Islamic extremist, not your average muslim here so doth protest too much.
My moneys on commies. Possibly led by Che Guevara and Marshall Tito.

yes we will, i for one am all for it.So your going to bomb Greece now?
If God were a man he'd be me.
At first i simply observed. But i found that without investment in others, life serves no purpose.
I hope you're joking...
And i'm with you friend...I'll not justify this act because i hate terrorism attacks...but there is a reason if it's happened...USA and NATO betrayed Greece during the war of Cyprus to keep their bases in Turkey...i think this is the key for these attacks..How about USA and UK paying compensation for the atrocities they inflicted on Greece with the well-known support for the military junta? Saying "sorry" as Bill Clinton did just doesn't cut it. I think that several billion dollars to the Greeks, an official and loud and clear apology and also informing the NATO member and the huge receiver of US military aid, Turkey, that there have to be an end to the occupation of parts of Cyprus would severely decrease the amount of exploding devices being propelled towards the US embassy in Athens.
Yeah, that's not going to happen. I know.
