I have no idea if this method works because I haven't tried it out.
You can build via the mod folder the music files, SFX files and even the voices files...
BUT you can't build the events file (at least I obtained no file for the events)

And you surely know that... no creation of events.dat and events.idx = no new music added...

If that's true then you really can't do it through the mod folder. Others are reporting different so for me to truly know, I would have to try it out myself. For some crazy reason, I just don't have any interest in changing the music anymore which is why I haven't experimented with the 1.2 patch yet. I'll get around to it and figure this out.

Alright, I tried to give the Crusader Campaign for Kingdoms some Kingdom of Heaven music because, frankly, the Crusader music isn't all that great compared to the other three campaigns. However, I followed your steps (Extracted music, deleted Events and Music files/ backed up, downloaded the Kingdom's Text files, put them in Crusades/data, put my music in the folder and the txt, placed music into data/sounds, and ran the game), yet now the game starts with -NO- sounds. No SFX's, no voices, no buttons. I can only hear a dull wind on the menu, and I have to turn my volume all the way up to here it. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? I just want to make the Crusader campaign's music less lame D=.

I believe your events.dat and events.idx controls your sound as music.dat and music.idx controls your music.

To get your sound back try replacing your events.dat and events.idx files in your data/sounds folder with the ORIGINALS you backed up.

ALWAYS make sure you back that stuff up.

I'm no expert on this but this should at least get your sound back.

I had my own music going, until I did a total game re-install and tried to redo my music the mod folder way.

I'm following the instructions WORD FOR WORD and I can't get d$%k to work. But as always it's probably some mundane detail I'm missing.

    Success.

TigerVX, have you tried modding the music through the main data folder (MTWII/data/sounds/music) using the first method found in the instructions? That's what I just did and it worked all right for me.

Attempting to do it through crusades/data might be messing you up.

In addition to the Kingdoms text files you also need all of the M2TW text files as the Kingdoms ones are just the ones that have changed.

Thats not true at all. I've been building new music files dozens of time. All I do is delete the old ones and new events.idx and events.dat is created everytime. This is assuming you have 1.2 installed.

I try it again tommorrow... (I am going bed :p)
But yesterday I tried and... it resulted in the game loading without sounds playing... but the music, voices and SFX files had been rebuilded in the main folder...
However, if I remember correctly, the events files were not rebuilded. (even in the mod folder).

Well anyways I try it again tommorrow.

EDIT: Maybe I see the why in your SS. I had all the sound files in the main data directory.

    Question:
-How do you know wich music is copyrighted?
-How can you know if the mod has copyrighted music?

The Xeno mod doesn't touch the music so after you add the mod, make your changes to the music, delete the required .dat and .idx files, and start the game up.

I did this to add Kingdom of Heaven music to Road to Jerusalem and the music works fine. But for some reason half my sound effects aren't working (i.e. button noises.)

Edit: The rest of my sound effects are really screwed up too. My cannons make no noise when they fire, my reiters have the bow sound when they fire, and my arquebusiers sound like buildings exploding when 1 gun fires.

Edit 2: I'm guessing that this is because I'm using the sound text files found in post 9, but those aren't for patch 1.2, are they?

Fixed it by following the main data method then copying the events files to my mod folder.

I'm having the same problem. How exactly did you fix this?

Edit: Nevermind, the problem was in descr_sound_music. I'd put a filename somewhere I shouldn't have!
