    Default Edu help

    this is a line from rtr unit. two question's

    1. stat_pri 14, 6, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, sword, 0 , 0.3

    what does the zero mean? in other mods edu this value is set to 25, Note: there is no reference to this value at the top of the edu

    2. stat_pri 14, 6, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, sword, 0 , 0.3

    i know this is the attack speed. would raising this to 1 make the unit attack faster? (rtr kill rate is slow for me i need massive death in a timely manner).

    3. maybe there is a correlation between the two numbers. thks for your time

    Going through this, it means;

    Attack factor, Charge bonus, Missile type Missile range, ammo, Weapon type, Tech type, Damage type, Sound type, swing speed, hit strength.

    So yours is;

    Attack factor 14
    Charge bonus 6
    Missile type no
    Missile range 0
    ammo 0
    Weapon type melee
    Tech type simple
    Damage type piercing
    Sound type sword
    swing speed 0
    hit strength 0.3

    Not sure how you can have a swing speed of 0. What type of unit is this? More information would help.

    Hope this post helps.

    I'm not sure what the swing speed at zero represents. As I understand it, the higher or lower this number, the faster the unit's attack, with 25 being a 'typical' rating. So a unit with an attack speed of 15 would get off twice as many blows as a unit with, say, 30.

    The hit strength I think refers to the 'lethality' of the attack, the ability to deliver a killing blow. For instance, you could argue that a heavy slashing blade may cause a large amount of damage (resulting in a high attack factor for that weapon), but because it's only slicing through outer flesh and muscle, it may not necessarily instantly kill the opponent. A light stabbing blade, on the other hand, may have a low attack factor, but because it's piercing vital organs it would result in a very high chance of lethality. I read somewhere that in the Napoleonic wars, the British cavalry saber resulted in many horrific injuries to the enemy, but relatively few outright deaths. The French rapier, by comparison, resulted in fewer disabilitating injuries, but a far higher precentage of outright deaths.

    I think with regards to both these stats, you can 'interpret' them to suit your personal tastes. For instance, I would give a light stabbing blade like a gladius a low attack factor, a fast swing speed, and a high lethality. For a barbarian longsword, I'd give a high attack factor, an average swing speed, and a fairly low lethality. Something like a falx, on the other hand, I'd give a very high attack factor, a very slow swing speed, and a high lethality (because even though it's a slashing blade, the sheer weight allows it to cleave limbs, which sounds pretty damn lethal to me).

    That's my take on it. Then again, I'm just going on hearsay and trial & error, so I could have got it all wrong...
