Default change start cities (with descr_strart)

Hello all, in new here... i have been playing RTR 1.6 and i loved it have conquered all the land with Iberians on very hard/very hard... took me very long, since i don't play video games that often... just not enough time

anyway.... i have a question not especially about RTR, but i hope you guys know the answer. I want to edit the starting cities in RTR 1.7, for example when i want to play with The Greek Cities i want ONLY that city on Crete to start with... if u know what i mean. I have figured that you have to edit the descr_strat file to do that, here's what i did:

    - delete all the cities on faction greek_cities in descr_strat but the one on Crete. However, the campaign will not start. When I click to start the campaign it simply returns to the main menu
    - delete all the cities on faction greek_cities but the one on Crete + all the units in greek_cities. The campagn will actually start, but when I begin I see that I have been defeated or something. Makes sence, as I have no units.

I hope someone can help me with this one? All I want to do is to play with a single city to start with on the Greek Cities faction, thats all. Shouldn't be too hard to find out for you guys i hope... I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me

First make a backup of your descr_strat. You need to know a name of a greek_city. You need to know of the gree_city starting armies (location you can get with show_cursorstat in the campaign)

Then open descr_strat with a text editor, search for a greek city (better than faction greek_cities as it is used for other greek factions and their armies too). Now identify the start of the greek_cities and the end (beginning of the next faction. Now you need to decide which city you want as capital, the first city after the faction description is your captial. Now you need to decide which other faction will get all the other cities, for now I explain how to give it to the rebels. Mark all cities you do not want, cut them, scroll to the bottom of the descr_strat file and you will find the slave (rebel) faction with all cities listed. Paste the greek_cities cities you just cut down there. You still have to get rid of additional armies too. Either delete the armies which are now in rebel territory or move them into your last remaining province. If you delete them you need to fix your family tree too (there is a tutorial about that on this site), for easy way just delete everything but your faction leader (he will adopt soon). This should work.

Sorry for my basic English, please also check the detailed tutorials on this site I am writing this out of my head and maybe I forgot something.

Edit: Also you need to bolster the now rebel cities with additional defenses or they will get captured very soon. The type of commander you use for the rebel settlement will decide what culture they will build (for example roman general will build roman buildings and so on, this also applies for basic unit whichever one leads the stack).
