Default Epirus campaign - family modding

Hi so I'm doing an Epirus campaign, loved the initial challenge, and loving the ongoing challenge of taking Thrace, that said I have a bit of an issue that only occurred to me in the last two turns as the bulk my first generation of family members came of age. Problem is, with the exception of Pyriccos of Epirus, everyone has inherited terrible traits. Not too much of an issue if it were not for the fact that I didn't sack or enslave Hellenic cities at the start so now I have a problem whereby many are close to revolt without a half decent administrator.

There is another issue, Alexandros of Epirus never had a kid, which is odd despite him possessing the 'fertile' and 'hale and hearty' traits. I'd quite like for him to have a son, but he is now 51, is there a way I can script him a son in? Or create a candidate for adoption and tailor his traits so the candidate gets the firstborn trait thus becoming his son, or will this not work? Given he is my most successful commander (after Pyrrhus passing) and is a good administrator, I'd like to keep his line going.

I'm afraid that there's nothing you can do with the script, that only applies to the beginning of a campaign. Nothing you can do about the family tree, either.

What you can do, is some selective editing of traits with the console, using the remove_trait and give_trait commands. You'll need to browse the export_descr_character_traits.txt to find the ones you want (and more imporantly the data names of those traits). Then move the offending character out of a settlement, click on them, then in the console type:

give_trait this [the trait you want]

Ah yes, they won't have kids if there's enough adult family members roaming around relative to your faction size already. I had this issue as well with my Pontos game, trying to keep the Pharnakides line alive. In the end, I found that allowing no adoptions, promotions from "man of the hour", or marriages into my family was the best policy for keeping the family members I wanted breeding, but you'll usually have fewer family members than you'd like.

You might want to establish more allied governments with client states in cities that have Eleutheria and Stasis. Even though the penalties don't seem to disappear from the tooltip if you do so, it appears to indeed work properly to negate them. And at the very least even if they are still terrible the client rulers will have a slight advantage over your FM governors thanks to the Client Ruler and Proper Governor specific traits.

What wrong with Pyrrhicos? He is an Aiakides and with that name too wouldn't be surprised if he takes after his grandfather. In my Epeiros game a while back, Alexander and Helenus didn't have any male children but Pyrrhicos continued the line with a son named after the founder of his enemy's dynasty, Antigonus.

Not even used him in combat yet, just to govern Pella but he shows signs of his grandfather's sharpness

Problem is though my plan was to have Alexandros bring Thrace and Illyria to heel, then have Pyrrhicos and Alexandros' potential son join invade Rome Or in the absence of good governorship, one could invade, the other defend.

How would I change this if I were to start a fresh campaign, I missed about 20 turns due to hitting the end turn button prematurely or accidentally and wasted time dithering when i shouldn't have

If you want you can always, uh, arrange a convenient boat trip into a storm for your less desirable generals

Personally, the way I roleplayed killing off family members and leaving only my main dynasty alive was that, in the growing of my empire, these people simply became uninfluential in the grand scheme of things. Not just that, you know, a government conspiracy wiped out several of the nation's most influential governors in a catastrophic fishing boat accident.
