Default Playing as Rome - Agricultural Reform "buildings"

I don't really understand what they actually do or what their point is. I've built the first one in Rome and it doesn't give the listed bonuses (I'd notice since it's supposedly a ton of population growth). Is it a prereq to Latifundia? Do they allow for some non-obvious bonus, like the appearance of the Reformator trait? Do I "need" to build these in every Italian region, or can I just do it one? Please someone explain all you can about this, I'm completely at a loss.

Agricultural Reforms are part of the Farm building sequence. You get a reduction in income but a plus to population growth and happiness. They represent what happens if/when the populists gain control and pass legislation which leads to more small-holdings. Once you get to Farm Level 5, you can pursue Land Reform1 (L6) or the "massive slave-worked farm estates" (L7). From L6 you can reject Land Reform and go to L7 or continue on to Land Reform2 (L8). The final level (L9) is the highest level of slave-worked farming estates, but once that's built it means the forces of Reform have lost out forever (at least in that province).

Edit: And yes there is a link to the "Reformator". To become Reformator, your FM must have the "Popularis" trait and one way (but not the only way) to get that is by building Land Reform1 or 2

Thank you very much Kull. It now makes perfect sense. Seems like it was really rather simple, it was also me being confused by the building browser. By the way, on the note of Reformator, what other tangible ways are there of getting the trait?

A Reformator is an FM with a certain level of well rounded competence (better than 2 in all his ICE ratings) , Influence greater than 2, Command greater than 2, is currently Consul and has the Popularis trait. For Popularis he almost has to be a Patrician, and do any of several things, such as gain the "Aggressive Tribune" trait or be Selfless or a Demagogue, or build Reform 1 or 2. There's a few ways to get there.
