    Default Construction of a Metropolis

Hey guys, quick question I wanted to clear up here:

Aside from the other requirements, do I need to have a particular government type in order to upgrade to a Hellenic Metropolis? I'm wondering because as KB, I need a province to have a Metropolis in order to build the Basilike Patris. Essentially I want to build them in Thrace in order to get loads of Rompaianai (no I don't have an obsession!! >.> ). It says in the description that upgrading to a Metropolis requires certain high level government types that are only available in certain regions (not including Thrace), but I was wondering if you guys knew of any workarounds, like a high level allied government or something of the sort.

Edit: Nevermind, I found it out, yes you do need high level government buildings to upgrade to a Metropolis, which means you can only build them in faction homelands it seems. Pity, maybe I'll just need to mod in some way to truly play Thraike.

Edit: Actually, it seems like only Kimmerios Bosporos are unable to build Metropolis outside of their core regions (Bosporos and Pontos). How irksome, as their Basilike Patris is also the only one that gives access to extra Rompaianai.

There's no reason for the Bosporans to have a higher government requirement than anyone else for a polis_three - that's an oversight. I'll change it to bospolig same as the previous level.

Wooh! Inadvertent bug fix. Thanks Quintus

Edit: Though there's still a kink in my plans... which is that you need a Metropolis to build a Basilike Patris (which give you Rompaianai), but you can't build Eastcols (for more Rompaianai) if you have a Metropolis >.>

Edit: Alright, if you've been following my epic journey all this way through, I decided to just mod it so the Getai get access to Rompaianai with Petty Kingdoms in all the same provinces as Eastcols and the Basilike Patris can, instead of just getting it in one province (which always annoyed me as they're basically Drapanai+ and the Getai are a subset of the Thraikians anyway?.. anyway)

Quintus, I am thrilled to hear about metropolis access being expanded for Kimmeros Bosphoros, since it's one of my favorite Greek factions. However, my question would be whether Tier 3 hellenistic colony access would also be expanded for them. As of right now, building Sympoliteia Katoikon requires a Paradynastic Rule (which produces the same geographical bottleneck that Cryoshakespeare ran into with the Metropolis). Giving Arkhe Oligarkhou access to metropolis construction without also giving it access to t3 colonies means you'd have to leave your highest influence governors in a province and wait it out for culture to hit 69%. In my humble opinion, that's simply a form of making the player jump through hoops for the sake of making them jump through hoops.

I was under the impression (but I could be wrong) that, since there currently is no upper limit to how many Satrapeia Basilike KB can build, they in turn paid for it by only being able to build its requisite buildings within a specific geographical range. They can build Satrapeia Basilike outside of said geographical range as long as the requisite buildings have been built by another faction (Athens, Antiocheia, and Alexandreia, for example). Since KB is one of my favorite factions, I absolutely would adore being able to build Satrapeia Basilike anywhere. However, it seems a bit strange compared to the rest of the other Greek factions, which (as far as I am aware) have an upper limit on how many of their best factional government they can build. Perhaps the logic is that Satrapeia Basilike generally lacks the elite recruitment that the other factions' Basilike Patris yields (which I would tentatively agree with, but it does somewhat depend on whether you consider Thureopherontes Hippotoxotai elite, for example). That would ultimately make sense, although SB is still excellent in that it very much allows for much higher public order than any other Bosphoran government.

The Satrapeia Basilike has been geographically limited in 2.3a - to hidden_resource royal_core or satrapy. So it's no longer anywhere. It also no longer requires a Metropoleis, but a polis_two (and 55% rel_h).

It gives a local pool plus a small number of elites - not the generous all- or mostly-elite pool that the Basilike Patris has.

Makes sense, Quintus. So, no word on whether t3 colonies will be different for Bosphoros?
