The gameplay-way: get trade agreements and build economical buildings in your settlements (i'm sure it's been explained in the FAQ). This done in the area around the Agean sea (Greece, mainly) combined with income from other settlements will generate more money than you can spend. Or you can enter a cheat in the console: press tilde (`/~) and type give_money 40000 You can't get more denarii per cheat than 40000.

Why would you want unlimited money?? Why don't you just find out how to get all the best troops, how to make them all uber,how to make all the other factions pathetic,then you can just steamroll over the entire map in ten minutes!!!

Uhh.. We're playing Rome: Total War here, not Medieval.

Just do as much with your economy in the early parts as you can. The "f" key is your friend, because its the shortcut to the financial scroll. Esp. in the early parts, try to keep out of the hole.

Also, build things mostly in this order

1. roads
2. basic barracks
3. farms
4. seaports
5. temples
6. trader

Go to console and type add_money and then the amount you want

Password Effect
create_unit "settlement/captain/general" "unit id" "amount" "experience" "weapon type" "armor type" Allows you to create any unit you want that your faction can use. You can make a max amount of 5 units, 9 experience, 3 armor/weapon.
give_trait "character" "trait" "level number" Allows you to give any trait your faction can have to a specific general.
process_cq "settlement name" Anything in the city's building queue will be built automatically.
add_population "settlement name" "amount" Allows you to give a city more population automatically. Max amount is 4000.
add_money "amount" Gives you the specific amount of denarii you want. Max amount of 40000.
toggle_fow Toggles on or off the fog of war. You can see the whole world map when inputted.
auto_win "attacker/defender" When at the battle scroll, input this code in, attacker if attacking, defender if defending and press auto retaliate button. Automatically wins.
oliphaunt Create a unit of Yubtseb Elephants

Money shouldn't really be an issue in vanilla even with VH campaign difficulty my money surges pretty early in the game. Just prioratize buildings that increase trade and set taxes to as high as you can while keeping pulic order above 80.
