PATCH
Overview
Long have you toiled in the lands of Middle Earth, slowly and painstakingly raising grand, mighty armies…armies composed almost solely of the most basic troops your faction can field. Oh, how you have sighed and grumbled in disappointment as you gaze out across your levies of peasants and fodder orcs! Long have you wished for even a few professional soldiers, elite warriors who can turn the tide of battle with one swift stroke.
Your wait is over. Presenting, The Total Recruitment Patch, where all units are recruitable from the beginning of the game. No longer will you be forced to wait fifty turns to recruit your best soldiers! Enjoy the full variety of military units which Third Age: Total War has to offer, in a hotseat setting.
Features
- The Barracks Event has been disabled. Players can construct all levels of military buildings immediately (assuming sufficient city/castle development)
- Various settlements have been upgraded to allow for construction of advanced military buildings
- Advanced military buildings have already been added to certain settlements
- King’s Purse increased for all factions
- Initial setup (settlements, buildings etc.) is easily modable via the descr_strat file, for balancing purposes and to allow for multiple possible hotseat scenarios
Limitations
- The bug preventing Eriador from recruiting on the first turn is hard-coded into Third Age: Total War and remains in effect. Eriador has been granted additional funds and buildings to compensate
- Hotseat creators should take care to examine the initial setups of the factions involved in their particular hotseat scenario, and consider making alterations to the descr_strat file to improve game balance
