    Default Some mod related questions...

    1) Does any mod makes the game more historically accurate without making hardcore gameplay changes such as Europa Barbarorum and Rome Total Realism ?

    2) What are good mini-mods for the original Rome Total War ?

    3) Has anyone made standalone historical skin packs ?

1- I had made a mod that enables, the units to appear in the game according to the 3 medieval eras: Eras Early,High and Late.
I don't know if you meant the units or other stuff by saying" historically accurate" but the mod may help.

2-Although I've played RTW a lot I have no clue about that.

3-Burrek had done a magnificient mod that reskins most of the factions units,They are quite historical and they look a lot better than the vanilla textures.
I strongly recommend it and here is the link for it:

Both EB and RTR are meant to make the game more historically accurate. I haven't played EB much, but I think it;s the more extreme/revolutionary of the two. The basic RTR mod is pretty much the same as vanilla, but with far better balanced gameplay. I think the main gameplay change is the 'AOR' system, which allows you to recruit local units, i.e. if you play as Romans and invade Gaul, you can recruit Gallic swordsmen after a while. RTR Platinum (for RTW 1.5 I think), makes a few more changes - such as only Macedonian-style pikemen having the phalanx ability (normal hoplites don't have it).

Lusted's "Terrae Expugnandae" however is probably your best best. It revamps and beefs up the entire unit rosters for all factions, improving heavily on the original vanilla game. However, I think it;s got pretty much the same map and the gameplay's unchanged (though probably better balanced) - I'm just guessing on this, as I haven't played it too much.

There are plenty of standalone skin packs. Webbird's complete skin pack is one of the first and best. AlCord released a series of packs providing UI cards for many of Webbird's skins (most barbarians, Greeks/Thracians/Seleucids, Romans, and I think Carthaginians/Numidians/Iberians).

There's also Kallikratis's Greek Project, which offers some fantastic Greek units.

Other than that, just check the downloads section - there are many great packs out there.
