What's the best arabic or muslim singer ?

For everyone who know some arabic/muslim music, i wanted to know what singer or band you consider to be the best ?

Im asking that for a mod project taking place in modern time(today) who'll require some "middle east" song and i know that we've some arabic/muslim members out there so i want your opinion.

I know some Pakistani Music. In Pakistan they speak Urdu, which is quite similar to Hindi, so I can understand a lot of it.

My favourite has to be Atif Aslam, and Jal (his band.) They also show quite a bit of Pakistani Music, but I can't really remember all the names of the bands.

There's also some Sufi Music I'm familiar with. Kailash Kher, and Himmesh Reshammiya. Moth have a 'Sufi' style when singing, the latter is, however, more 'Bollywoodish", and the former more 'earthy'.

I'll post more after I relook through my records and songs!

I think a guy called Haroon did a couple of songs with and Arabic singer...not too sure though.

And like Mig el Pig said, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is a must if you're after typical music from the area.

Search for some Palestinian songs or music pieces, they contain most to all Mideastern instruments.
EDIT: Oh, Scorp, can you give some links to this mod of yours?

I couldn't find any songs from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Did it's possible that he've some kind of artist name other than this one ?


P.S. The only singers i knew about was Sami Yusuf(alias Cat Stevens) and Ched Khaled(lol) so you already helped me with your sugestions but keep them coming.

Where did you look?
