Computor advice, Help!

Hi there I AM pretty new with this here and need some HELP My pc is intel P4 3.00GHz (cpu's) 1.5Gig ram win xp ser pack 2 with Ati Radeon AGP x1600 pro 512MB. iN BATTLE OR SIEGE WITH MORE 500 SOLDIERS FROM BOTH SIDES I GET ABOUT 4 FPS AND THIS IS BY SETTINGS EVERYTHING ON LOW ECXEPT UNITS THEY ARE MED. pLEASE HELP WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY PC OR WITH THE SETTINGS MY HARD DRIVE IS 80 GIG 14 GIG ARE FREE !!!!
i WILL APPRECIATE ALL HELP FROM SIDE.

I would move this back to the MTW2 forum as he is likely to get more help there, as I'm sure he is not the only one who has had this problem.

All I will say is when playign RTW I got major slow down on bridge battles when all the units would clash at a single point on the map, in which case theres nothing you can do about it other then upgrade your computer. Sorry.

well, the ram is good as a total amount, but u may be experiencing slowdown cause ur using a lot of ram dimms
so if u have 2x512 + 2x256 ur 1,5 gigs r gonna b quite slow since they;re running in 2T command mode instead of 1T, by removing ur smaller ram dimms u could get an up to 20% speed boost (unless ur computer needs 1,5 gigs of ram)

since ur video card is agp, u dont really have any better upgrade options since all new video cards are pci-e now (except the ati 1950 pro agp version if u can find it, but probly quite expensive ||| if u do get this video card tho, its performances will be limited by ur cpu)

everything is always a good idea if u can afford it

Have you tired running any other games, do them seem to run any slower then normal or is it just MTW2?

If you want to upgrade then how much cash do you want to spend?

Oh, I had same problems with Rome. Other games worked fine but Rome just jammed in some battles (bridge battles mostly). Something with the engine I quess.. Surely you have the latest chipset/graphics card drivers? Can't think of anything else now..

Your system is pretty balanced now, so if you upgrade, I think you'd better to start it from a scratch. =)

So what I've done untill now !

I get rid of Catalyst Control Center and insstall the Sys Tray Tools which I really recc. to everybody then changed the ram the 2x256mb were in slot 1 and 2 now they are in 3 and 4 and the 512mb are in 1 and 2 (somebody from the game club told me that this is better so ?)

Next step was the Dxtweaker I made this as well now is buffing tripple which encreasse the fps with like 50% but really 50%

Yesterday I changed the Psu from my old one 350W to 550W.
(Video card is running good only if it have enough power and this needed at least 400W)

After I've done all this I am very happy to say that my fps in open battle with everything on max without shadows with 2000 units both sides are between 29-39fps did not try till now in a siege but I am telling you this game is amazing when its getting smooth I believe now I can get to the next forums as well and start enjoing this community thanks for all your help and special thanks to robinhood Spartan at the http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=270

Without them I wouldn't be able to play this game any more coz it get me crazy with this fps
