Okay, I think I got Max mostly figured out now (HA!).
A couple of prototype models for your pleasure. Currently only in the High stage, but working on the others.
Carthaginian Sacred Band Cavalry awaiting orders
Actually a model and texture first designed by my old partner Titus Andronicus for the "Carthaginian and Ptolemaic Mod," that was never finished. I've updated the model somewhat and am finishing the med, low and lowest models at this moment. The texture is a bit plain, especially on the shield, because the original shield design didn't work so well in-game. The shield now has a protruding boss, and the sword has been changed for the new greek version (also a prototype) we had planned before Titus retired.
Historical note: In Carthaginian society, beards were a sign of prosperity and nobility, like with their Phoenician predecessors. Only officers and nobility (e.g. Sacred Band, Carthaginian citizens, etc.) were allowed to have beards in Carthaginian armies, conscripts and volunteers were made to shave.
Another prototype model:
Greek Armoured Hoplites(Hellenic) on the march
Basically the same original model, but with a few changes. I changed the head because in the 3rd century BCE the "Corinthian" helmet used by CA on the originals did not exist anymore (Sorry, Greek faction fans! It's true.) It had long been replaced by helmets that were less restrictive on vision and hearing -mainly Macedonian types like the one shown here.
The helmet is a remake of the original Thracian model that works with the newer models, making them much easier to transfer from one neck to the next in the high/med/low/lowest type, rather than fooling around with the 70, 100, and so on.
Speaking of necks, I changed the neckguard to one more like the photos I have, but since I have none of the back of the helmet, I would appreciate if someone could correct me if it's wrong. With pictures, if possible, please.![]()
I added a solid brim instead of using the one-sided one like on the hoplite models. The shield is also remade more rounded and is a half shield in the texture. I've included pteryges on the shoulder pieces, which can be removed by changing the texture's alpha channel if one doesn't like them. I've also changed the faceguard to more like the real types, that wrap around the nose, rather than cover it like in the original. Included as well is the same greek sword as in the Sacred Band Cav.
Sorry, I couldn't include crests or plumes. There wasn't enough texture space. Make anything smaller and detail sucks. Removed too from the texture, is the sash around the breastplate. Only officers wore sashes, in both Greek and Roman armies, as symbols of rank.
The texture, like before, is experimental. Included only for a working model. Working on the texture too.
