Large empire - no money??

I'm playing the Romans and have conquered Spain, Gaul, Greece and North Africa. Yet now I can hardly field 2 or 3 full stacks before I start to lose money. In the past when my empire was smaller I remember I could field about 6-7 to beat Carthage. My garrisons usually consist of only one unit, so it's not my military that is draining my money.

I checked my financial scroll and everything seems fine, except for Trade Income, which is = 3000.

3000 for trade is ridiculously low for a large empire. For example when you play carthage you already make 5000 in turn one.

Could someone tell me how this comes? It's no fun playing Rome Total War without armies.

Well you aren't playing vanilla Rome.You're playing it with a mod.Have you developed your cities enough economically ? Do you have trade agreements with other factions ? Do you have very large garissons in cities that they are not needed ?
