Default Dual Core CPU: Where's that Blacklist?

Well, I have an Intel E6300 Core 2 Duo CPU, and some of my games wont start, and the only solution I can think of is that the CPU is not supported by the game...

For example "Armies Of Exigo" won't start, and "UT 2004" won't start neither.

Funnily, older games like "The Settlers IV" will start...

Hm, now, is there some kind of Blacklist which lists all games which won't run with a Dual Core CPU? I don't need lists of supported games, though...

    Thanks in advance,

I really dont think its your CPU at all. Maybe you did some changes to your system, have you changed any drivers recently?
Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.

I doubt very much it has anything to do with your CPU. If anything older games are less likely to work with dual core CPU’s, for example you can’t run Thief 2 on any computer that has hyperthreading or has dual cores.

Your problem is something else; since its newer games that don’t start but older games do it might be your version of DirectX isn’t up to date. Also try getting the lastest set of drives for your graphics card.

Thanks gyus, but at least for "Armies Of Exigo" I found out that it won't work with dual core. (Someone at the forums was having the same problems as I, and they all asked for a dual core patch).

Not sure about UT2004 though, haven't found any info about that one...

Edit: Since I built my PC ~ 3 weeks ago, my DirectX is up-to-date (DX9.0c), and I updated my Graphics drivers a few days ago.

You don’t need a dual core patch to get it to run, if you can get it to run to point where you can Alt-Tab back to desktop you are in luck. If you can get back to desktop let me know and I'll talk you through the dual core work around.

I have an Core 2 E6400 and UT2004 works fine.

It gives me an error at startup, and I tried two different UT2004 versions (1st was an Englisch CD version, the 2nd my own German DVD version)

Give me a minute, I'll take a screenshot... A pity Windows error messages are pretty much for the ass.

    Edit:

Took a while, had to turn on the other PC, upload etc...

And you get the same error message on the other game as well?

Nope. The logo won't even get on the screen... I double-click on the icon, and it seems like it's starting (PC gets a bit noisier, screen flickers like it's going to start), but then it stops and nothing happens. No process is shown in the task manager neither.

Damm sorry I forgot about this.

Ok it could a driver conflict. But first I want you to do something. Goto Control pannel>system>Hardware>Device manager

Go to View and press 'Show Hidden Devices' Now click on Non-plug and Play Drivers and see if you can find anything called Starforce. If you can it maybe you need to remove this before anything will work, clicks this link to remove. http://www.glop.org/starforce/

Thanks Freddie, I've allready solved the problem... Seems like UT2004 didn't like my Overclocking-Software. (Overclocked my 7600 GT). Now it runs smoothly. Thanks for all your advises, though.
