Icon14 [RELEASED] KLA's Roman Legionaries Mod (Empire Divided)

I made the mod of Roman legionary units for the Aurelian Empire.

The mod changes units fighting in the traditional Legionary mode: Legionaries, Cohors, Levies, Evocati Cohors, Praetorian Guards, Ioviani and Herculiani.
Units that looked very bad in the basic version of the game. Worse than the cavalry.

They had too many elements from the time of Augustus (the 1st century AD), as well as those transferred from Attila (4th-5th centuries AD).

I decided to remove the ridge helmets, which appeared only at the end of the 3rd century AD The oldest ones come after 280 AD however, in a very simple form and weren't as common as in the game.

I added a lot of new elements and also selected existing ones to fit the 3rd century AD.

In addition, units are more diverse and interesting.

Very good mod, but with Herculani and Ioviani you should stay with vanilla shield patterns, please change that if you can...;-)

I decided to change it because that style of pattern came after 390 AD, so around more than 120 years.
I think that Dura Europos style could be more similar to design of early Jovians/Herculians. We aren't sure about emblems of early ages of these units.
CA based on Notitia Dignitatum (4th-5th centuries design), but their patterns have completely wrong colours.
CA made for Herculians blue shield with yellow eagle. It should be red shield with black eagle.
They made for Jovians brown shield with black eagle, but it should be blue shield with red eagle.

    The units look great.

But i have a problem with the chainmail helmets.^^ I know they were depicted on a relief in Dura Europos, possible the depicted warrior is a heavy javelinmen.

Were they really so common? Or only in syrian legions?

I live near Niederbieber (5 km) and i only knew Niederbieber and other late roman helmets.

Only thing I'm not fond of is the overrepresentation of mail coifs, esp. on the Evocati. I have a hard time believing professional Legionaires would ever go into battle without a helmet, goes completely against how they fought. A single blow over the shield that strikes the head and any guy without a helmet is out of the fight, hence the helmet is the most important piece of armour for a Roman soldier, right next to the shield. Mail coifs were much more likely worn below the helmet.

    Like them all.
Only Thing I miss is the typical broad Roman sword belt / girth.

Due the coifs, coifs have the advantage that they were not as cumbersome as the 3rd century helmets, you could both hear and see better, your vision was not so limited.
Especially useful for the specialist soldiers as to lanciarii and other Missile / skirmishers troops.
For the Hastati (Spear-equipped) were supposed to fight in a Phalanx-style, they werre supposed to stand their ground! Here the more cumbersome Equipment was better.
Further, the coif (either made of mail or scales) was worn above a cap, so that you did have more protection (especially useful against blunt hits).

    Thank you all friends.

In new version I will delete coif from Evocati. There will be more combine of helmets and coifs for various Roman units.
