The UK chose Boris Johnson, a sea-of-the-pants twit, to negotiate and organise a complex divorce deal because he had the messiest hair. Its like getting some geezer at the pub to sperate your conjoined twin children because he sang the loudest after the rugger game.

Definitely more incompetent than Trump, and that takes some doing.

Indeed. The constant Treasury policy principles since Thatcher's tie are:

    Remove red tape
    Deregulate wherever possible
Ensure efficiency by removing the cost to do business.

If the opposite is the case, throw the policy proposal in the rubbish where it belongs.

So how the hell did Boris conjure up this dog's breakfast?

Indeed, Johnson has betrayed almost every principle of the Brexit cause he espoused as well as throwing Tory orthodoxy out the window.

If the Conservative party does have an enduring maxim it was "change as little as possible, but do what works" (as opposed to Liberal and later Labour preference for "good principles lead to good outcomes"), as borne out by examples like the Tory response to the Irish Famine (soup kitchens: the Whigs shut them because "an economic adjustment was necessary"), expanding the franchise (Disraeli gave working men the vote before they revolted) or Irish independence ("its costing too much, retain economic interests while reducing the costs of Empire").

Yeah it's almost as if it is a collosally bad idea. What we need is a concerted campaign telling people why Brexit is a bad idea...

    Oh wait... hang on...

Take a lorryload of shellfish to Europe. I'm sure you will find it an education.

Meanwhile a cheesemaker discoveers that the so-called 'sunny uplands' cost his business £250, 000 in losses thanks to Brexit red tape.

Ok, so UK companies are now being "advised" by their own government to set up shop in the EU, if they want to do business... off the record of course:

It seems Brexit as proposed to U.K. Voters was a con job sold by Trumps less competent toffee-nosed clone. The tripe Cummings got his clowns to promise turned out to be bollocks? It's not that surprising. I guess people wanted it to be true "yes we will stop immigration, stick up the French and it won't cost us a penny".

The UK. It was their choice to leave the customs union and the single market, This means that both sides of the border (NI is on the other side of the border), has to implement import duties, points of origin rules etc. Lorry drivers even need documentation just to drive into Kent ffs. This is all common knowledge.

Indeed. The UK has also lost the free exchange of criminal and national security intelligence with the EU. The one nation to directly benefit from this is Putin's Russia. Where did Cummings spend some of his fomative years?. Just saying.

Have you been ignoring the news, including articles posted here? I suggest you follow what is happening out there instead of asking daft and repetitive questions. Btw you need paperwork exports of any kind before you are allowed into Kent (£300 fine for non-compliance).

On that theme, a business in Northern Ireland has to find new markets as it can't sell eels to English people. Cockneys are being shafted by Brexit. The business also has to find a more expensive means of restocking , because it can't import from rest of the UK.

Furthermore an English business run by a Brexiteer is finding his business wiped out not only in the EU but also in NI. You can't make this up.

I now think that the case for a new referendum, to rejoin the EU , or at the bare minimum, join the Customs Union and Single Market will become inevitable. There is no way business can survive this nonsense. Keir Starmer needs to get off the fence.

Here is an article which gives an all round picture of the mess UK business is in.

With its vaccine rollout in disarray, the European Union recklessly prepared to trigger Article 16 of the Northern Ireland protocol in a ham-fisted attempt to prevent exports of COVID-19 vaccines to the UK. The move came in response to a vaccine shortfall in Europe caused by a lack of production capacity. Britain is currently being prioritized by AstraZeneca after having outflanked Brussels contractually. Following condemnation from Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK, the unelected head of the EU Commission, von der Leyen, backtracked. On Friday, Macron controversially claimed that the AstraZeneca jab was "quasi-ineffective" on older people. The EU regulatory body approved it for all people shortly thereafter.

At the same time, the UK, having being liberated from the Customs Union, has applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. If accepted, it will become the bloc's second wealthiest member after Japan, and enable the UK to rekindle ties with Canada, Australia and potentially the US (if Biden rejoins).

Ah, banning the importation of vaccines needed for my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and other relatives. As an NI resident: these people.

By liberated, you mean our export businesses are being choked to death by red tape and punitive costs, whilst consumers are paying through the nose for orders from the EU.

At this rate this 'liberation' will free thousands of people from employment.

Well, it could have worked sure. Sadly our political class seems to be hellbent in attempting to emulate the Byzantine court of the dying empire.

The only thing they could agree to since the ref, is to not agree to anything.
