There was no reply from the english overlords, so the french king took that as a sign , that recruitment for the crusade was permitted, and conscription continued in the french provinces. Many flocked to the banner of christ ,for france was particularly religious country, and the faith was strong in this part of europe. Nobles, serfs and men with property thought carefully about how each would contribute to the crusade ahead, and the king reviewed the lists for the coming crusade and was semi-happy at the news that recruitment was strong.
The king however didnt wish to lead the campaign , and left it the count of Toulouse to lead the group, and all knew that within a few seasons the french strenght was such that it would be ready to leave france, and campaign movement areas, would have to be planned for the coming departure.
