Thread: Ravens of the Kingdoms (Duncan)

Default Ravens of the Kingdoms (Duncan)

As per this decision, the "Ravens" thread is being belatedly replaced with this thread. This thread is to be used for everything that would be considered public knowledge, such as a marriage announcement, Tournament announcement, or invitations to a feast.

Please note that the following rules apply to sending ravens:

    - Within your own 'Kingdom' (eg inside the Reach) = 1 hour (that is roughly 2 days ingame)

    - To neighbouring Kingdoms (eg Westerlands to Riverlands or Reach) = 7 hours (2 weeks ingame)

    - Over every 'Kingdom' afterwards = 7 more hours (eg Dorne to North is Dorne > Stormlands > Crownlands > Riverlands > North, or 4 'hops', so 4*7 = 28 hours, or 2 months ingame)

Rumor spreads across the Three Sisters' common citizens , that Lord Sunderland is attempting to recruit expierienced and trustworthy men for his household.
Past captains, who have served under the Sunderlands were rumored to have risen up in rank more than quickly, though some of them either mysteriously vanished or eventually were caught as pirates and thus brought down for their crimes. The majority of those, who served Sunderland in the past were either born as minor nobility or as commoners.
While it is known within the town of Sweetsister, that only persons of noble heritage are let in by the guards, further rumors tell, that at 'The Cooked Rooster' men from Lord Sunderlands' court tend to visit the location from time to time in order to spent their freetime. If there is a safe chance for employment within a tavern, where smugglers and merchants are rumored to feast, then it is definitly there.

    240 AC

Ravens fly, as Lord Baratheon invites the local Lords and High Lords to Storm's End in order to discuss matters of the realm.
One year has passed since Lord Lyonel's death, thus it seems fitting in the eyes of the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands to discuss political matters and the current situation of the Stormlands now that the days of mourning and grievance are over.

Ravens fly out to each of the Seven Kingdoms.

By the Royal Decree of King Duncan

A new system of magistrates is to be appointed in each of the seven Kingdoms. These magistrates are empowered to settle disputes between lords in the Kings Name and end abuses of power they witness. They may raise raise troops to enforce the Kings edicts. Failure to comply with these magistrates is the equivalent of defying an order from the crown.

    Signed and sealed.
    King Duncan ect. ect.

Another time ravens fly towards the keeps of the Stormlords with the exception of Summerhall.

To the Lords and Ladies of the Stormlands,

the most recent decision of the Crown tests the patience of the Stormlands once more.
I thus request you as the Lord Paramount of the Stormlands to attend another council at Storm's End.
The peace of the realm is endangered and unity against the decision of the King is more needed than ever before,
as it endangers our souvereignity as Lords of the realm.

    Signed,
Lord Ormund Baratheon, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, Lord of Storm's End

Ravens fly, from Riverrun, to the great Lords Paramount of the Realm.

    My Lords,

The actions of both King Aegon and King Duncan have been foolish at best, and despicable at worst. To give commoners such ridiculous rights, to remove from the Lords of this Realm their judicial rights. Such things are unprecedented and offensive. Are we not fit to rule our own lands, handed down through many generations of our respective houses?

Once, Targaryen Kings enforced such tyrannical edicts with the sheer force of the dragons - the dragons are long dead.

I invite each of you to Riverrun to discuss a joint solution to the King's latest demand for magistrates. Previously King Duncan has broken oaths, his father empowered the common serf, and now he seeks to slowly strip us of our power. We must find a solution, lest we find ourselves castrated altogether.

    [SIGNED & SEALED]
    Lord Axel Tully

A proclamation is read throughout the city of King's Landing: by the decree of Duncan Targaryen, First of His Name, a new tax upon prostitution shall be levied in the name of preserving public piety and morals. A penny for each prostitute solicited shall be paid into the royal treasury, with the sum collected monthly from each brothel by the City Watch of King's Landing.

Another proclamation is read: the City Watch is looking for new recruits, with numbers being expanded from five-thousand strong to seven-thousand. Prospective recruits are to present themselves to the recruitment officers at the City Watch barracks.

To the Lords of the Reach

The Crown assails the Reach. An army commanded by the traitor Lord Tarly besieges Highgarden, having arrived with no prior demands, no prior negotiation, to wage war upon us - striking at me while I attend council in the Riverlands, while my back is turned, as cowards and traitors are wont to do. I hereby summon my bannermen about me, to defend the Reach against the latest encroachment of an oppressive monarch: he curtails our rights, places commoner magistrates above us, and now invades our homes in a war of aggression. Rise for your rights, rise for a Reach that is not merely an extension of the Crownlands, rise to cast down the traitors in our midst.

Upon the Prince's entry into the Riverlands, messengers are sent to every keep save Riverrun. The Lord Hand wishes only to exercise the King's justice against the Lord Tyrell, who is currently residing in Riverrun. No harm is meant against the Riverlords or their liege, the Lord Tully, and thus they have no cause for alarm.

Ravens are sent out in the Reach.

Lord Tyrell has declared an open rebellion to the crown, After Lord Tarly, the Master of Laws was dispatched from King's Landing with a warrant for Lord Tyrell's arrest and intend to release an illegal held prisoner. Upon arrival to High Garden is was clear Lord Tyrell was not at High Garden in that moment of time. Lord Tarly requested entry to High Garden which the castellan un-lawfully declined upon which the High Garden garrison attacked and killed several men under the employ of Lord Tarly. A clear violation of the King's Justice.

The Master of Law denounces Lord Tyrell as Warden of the South, Defender of the Marches, High Marshal of the Reach and Lord Paramount of the Reach declaring him in open rebellion to the realm. Lord Tarly calls upon all those loyal to the crown to come to his aid or be declared traitors to the realm.

    Signed, waxed and sealed
The Master of Laws, Lord Tarly of Horn Hill.
