    Default Mongols using Muslim voices?

Been a few years since I played Stainless Steel, plan on reinstalling it soon. Do the mongols still use Islamic voices on the campaign map rather than their vanilla voices?

Very minor, but it's something that always irked me....

Why not give them the speech they had in vanilla M2TW? Is there a reason for that? It sounded fine from what I remember. If anything it's jarring to hear them speak as if they are Muslims, although this is restricted to the campaign map. On the battle map they have their original vanilla voices.

i remember i "kind of" fixed this by using the limited mongol voices there are in med2, mongols were never intended to be played so the faction is missing voice for some things, like the voice for when a general is moving, responding etc etc

i will post my fix soon

EDIT: there you go http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=75860108381154896135 just take that file and put in the SS's data folder, overwrite when asked, requires a new campaign i think

as always backup your original fire first

Thanks for sharing. And no, that wouldn't require a new campaign, it's a sound file. I've changed sound files in regards to music during mid-campaign on multiple occasions, adding new songs to the campaign map and battle map, for instance, from my own personal music library. After editing the text files to indicate the new sound files you want to be heard in the game, all you have to do is remember to delete the "music.idx", "music.dat", "events.idx", and "events.dat" files in the "sound" folder within the main "data" folder of the Stainless Steel mod. When you boot up the game it rebuilds these four files and voila, you have all the new sound files in the game, whether that be music or unit voices.

EDIT: by the way, I downloaded your file and did as I explained, and wow, I totally forgot how awesome the Mongol/Timurid/Aztec speeches were.

"MY MASTER WILL REWARD ME FOR YOUR DEATH!"

"ORDER ME NOT! I'M BUSY TORTURING CAPTIVES!"

    Good stuff.

Yeah Dekhatres is right the Mongols don't have any voice files for when the human controls them, so if you played as Mongols in vanilla your generals and agents were completely silent on the campaign map. Since Stainless Steel made the Mongols playable they just gave them Middle Eastern voices.
