    Yes sorry I was a bit eager to getting it to work. I had been at work all day and was just hoping it would work easily.
    So I installed, did all the steam related things I needed to do. I also downloaded the patches. I'm thinkin maybe a resolution problem as another thing that happens which I was unable to print screen is that afterwards when the unspecified error box appears my mouse is locked in a black screen at the top left which I need to use escape to clear it. I checked the log files in both the mod and steam and they are both empty. But it's not a startup problem. I also tried some historicalls battles if I clicked on hastings it said choose another. Arsuf got to the starting page but same problem with the error. Also not a big deal but the historical battles were in German.
    If the link is the same to the tartoros post I have already tried that. If I bought steam is the m2tw patches already added. I noticed another post where they said they started another campaign is that like crusades or brittania I haven't tried that yet only the one in steam that is medieval 2. I have tried opening from the batch file too that works to open it but still the same fatal error issue when I'm trying to start a campaign.

    No problem.
    I forgot to mention, that the historical battles are most likely non functional as they may use units that no longer exist. So a crash here is expected.
    Can you start a normal custom battle?
    And have you replaced the descr Region. Txt as mentioned?

    I've just checked the baselhun posts on 1.0 I get that same picture with the unspecified error. I'll keep searching for answers it might be the cfg file change that was mentioned in one post about keeping the first 3 lines I think. Do I need to change something to get the log file available?

    Yeah, thats the standard error message when it crashes for some reason.
    Baselhun had a startup error. Thats not your error.

    For the log file. The log file will be created in the base medieval folder. You do not need to enable anything for it to be created.

    Did you try replacing the descr_regions.txt file as suggested?
    Can you start a custom battle?

    Please answer my questions, so i could be able to help you.

    Edit : the cfg files are barebones, no reason to change them, that wasnt the case back then, hence the suggestion for changing them.

    here you could replace the payback_id council_mod_unit_best with a other payback, or just delete it and turn the random chance of income payback to 0.5. You can find a list of possible paybacks replacements at the top of the file.

    Yes, we are almost there.
    You put the descr_regions.txt into this folder and replace the old:

    mods/totalvanillab/data/world/maps/base/

    I don't know why this error occurs, or why this file especially gets shot to pieces, but if you replace it with the file I provided, you should be able to start up a campaign.

    As you see in both logs, the Basra settlement is somehow missing. it is the same error.

    Thanks for pointing me at this.
    I think I will replace the unit reward with a different one. As the reward is most of the times a burden (4 catapults, 4 peasants, etc).
    It will be part of a next patch.

    the permissions i think its windows 10 on the zip file click properties and the security thing at the bottom click on that. it can block it because its from an unknown source. do that on the other patches too caught me out

    dont know if the picture was added to this but in the properties of the totalvanillab.zip file before you extract click on the unblock or that can cause problems.

    Good news everyone,

    a new patch is available. It fixed some minor bugs.

    Patch#3 change notes

    -Tripoli (Lebanon) starts now with the correct religion (islam) instead of 100% catholizism
    -Armenia received missing unit_info pictures for agents (not that important, but for the sake of it...)
    -Applied right skin for Saethwyr (Welsh)

    This patch should be save game compatible. The Tripoli changes will only take effect on a new campaign as it is only important at startup.
