Default Koinon Hellenon Reform - Best cities for Sympoliteia Hellenon?

    Hello!

What would be historically the best cities for the Sympoliteia Hellenon buildings??

If you were basing your choice on history, I might suggest Athens.

Although you hadn't asked, if I am basing my location choice off of gameplay more than historical accuracy, I would suggest Ephesos and either Messana or Syrakousai. I remember the first time KH campaign I played I placed a Sympoliteia Hellenon in Athens, but because it's so central, it won't be particularly close to your fronts. I like placing one in Sicily in order to (theoretically) boost recruitment and protect against an invasion by Carthage or Rome. And Ephesos is a good recruitment hub because it has Kretian mercs as well as Hippomachoi (which are a big deal since KH really doesn't have great cavalry). But at the end of the day, I believe the primary difference is SH yields siege weapons and a higher law bonus (in exchange for a higher happiness penalty). At the end of the day, you won't miss out on much by placing them wherever. So far, I've not been very impressed by siege weaponry.

Currently I have neither Ephesos nor Syrakousai. So not really a option.

Suggestions for the second city? I sway between corinth and sparta.

IIRC I built it in Corinth and Athens, when playing 2.2r. Not sure if it matters, since after the reform, you should be able to build sympoliteia governments everywhere in your home regions.

Because of the higher law bonus, I could be worth installing it in a province with high mining income, or very high trade (to potentially combat corruption, assuming it's far from your cap). I generally chafe with the idea of having two SHs installed adjacent to each other because it's so centralized. If you choose Athens or Korinth, I'd install the other farther off (ideally near one of your [soon-to-be] fronts).

The other neat thing about installing one in Ephesos is that (at least according to the province description of Ionia), it sounds like they had something in place that served as almost a precursor to the Hellenic League.

If a comparison to the regional leagues of the 5th-4th centuries is applicable, wouldn't it make sense to have your three starting Poleis as the centers of the Sympolteia Hellenon? Since you start play as those cities, their modus operandi would be to add other poleis to the league is a somewhat subordinate status (Delian/Peloponnesian/Boetian League), as much as possible. Therefore, those cities should be the crux of any effort to centralize the league (probably with the end-goal of edging the other two out of the leadership once centralization was established). The revolt, therefore, would be analogous to the Delian revolts of the mid-5th century.

I went with Thermon and Sparte--the "tough guys", as I seen it.
