You should also pull your cavalry out of any prolonged melee - especially if it's with infantry. We've deliberately made them weaker in a standing fight (because they were!), their primary advantage was mobility. Charge, disengage, charge again is more effective than leaving them in a static fight.

There was a notification icon on the far left of the screen during the battle for an FM dying. I don't think you lost any, nor were there any other Seleukid FMs present, so he must have been killed.

@Quintus: Yes, that's more a reflection of my lack of micromanaging skills. My brain can take a little bit to catch up with all thats happening on the battlefield and, to be honest, I was thrown off after the elephant charge to the rear. Thanks for the info, I thought he might have been. I think it could be a good time to propose a ceasefire; the loses, on both sides, have been heavy.

Episode 10: Just as the books are balanced, a desert tribe encroaches on our lands, to the east of Ptolemais-Akko. This causes much disturbance; therefore, Menelaos Lagou is sent to solve the problem.

That script with Kleomenes is not supposed to work that way, he shouldn't instantly revolt, that only happens after 20 turns of not taking Sparte. I'm going to have to look at the script again.

@Quintus: I wouldn't have known. Glad the footage can also help iron out a few things.

Found and now fixed the problem. The "timer" ran down all at once and triggered the "failure" state where if you don't put Kleomenes on his throne within 20 turns, he raises an army of his buddies in Alexandreia against you instead.

@Quintus: Well done. I really like the new scripts added, so its good to get them polished.

Episode 12: The Seleukids refuse to even entertain a temporary peace and begin consolidating their troops. Alexandros Pelopos, wards off an encroaching Nabutu army, just before they cause a lot of problems. I begin the general process of replenishing our depleted forces.

Episode 13: Alexandros Pelopos marches round to the rear of the Nabatu stronghold, Bostra, and begins the process of laying siege. Meanwhile, to the extreme south, a recent recruitment push is not enough to dissuade Amdam, an Aithiopian leader, marching a large force into our territory and laying siege to Ptolemais-Theron.

Episode 14: Potentially lucrative trade deals are offered by Safot Softim biQarthadast and the Getai (although the Getai seem untrustworthy). The Seleukids consolidate a large force not too far from our border (Ptolemais-Akko), and a rebel force amasses nearer the city itself. This forces Alexandros Pelopos to push forward his plans for the siege of Bostra and assault immediately.

Episode 16: Alexandros Pelopos tries to stabilise the new settlement of Bostra. Meanwhile, the main force of the Nabatu persuades a seperate rebel force (Aphistamenoi), to join them. Fears are that their Nabatu leader, Ma'airu, shall return to retake the city of his ancestors. Calamity strikes in the south and Ptolemais-Theron.

[Note to EB team: I have noticed that in two seperate ocassions where, minor, factions (Getai and Saba'u) have offered trade agreements (these being accepted), that my relations with them have subsequently worsened to the, 'Untrustworthy' state. Ostensibly, this, seems, contradictory. I did notice this did not happen with Safot Softim biQarthadast].

There's a theory that unrequited trade rights (ie those with factions you can't actually reach) causes a degradation in relations.

That's very interesting. So if you cannot trade with another faction then you shouldn't conclude a trade agreement as it would worsen the relations? Is it hardcoded in the M2TW engine?

Watched some bits. I think it would be nicer to truffle battles with a few "zoom in" moments. To give us the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful models and animations.

IMO he gets the amount of zooming in and overviewing the battlefield quite right, I really like the slow camera movement + cinematic mode every now and then

@Quintus: How interesting, I never knew that. In future, I'll think harder on trade deals. Thanks for the information.

@Yerevan: Yes, in the earlier battles, including the one you have linked, I was focusing more on the commading side of things. This has now been re-worked and I believe the ratio is a little more even now. To be provide evidence of this, I would suggest viewing my latest battle from Episode 15, 'A miserable and bloody siege at Bostra.' This is the format I shall be following in the future. Overall, I have already learnt a great deal with the play-through. I confess, its quite a difficult task to obtain balance, i.e., progression/winning and taking time to actually enjoy the details/immersion this mod brings. That being said, from my own perspective, I am making strides towards this goal and am really starting to enjoy the process.

@xHolyCrusader: Thank you. I actually learnt a lot from watching your cinematic videos. Hope there are more to come!
