Default 4GB patch for the Mac-Steam version ?

    Hello,

I would love to play Europa Barbarorum 2 with my Mac-Steam version of M2TW, but I understood via reading through the forum that without the 4GB patch it is almost unplayable.

Is there any way to apply this 4GB patch on my steam version of M2TW on a Mac? Or maybe another type of patch/fix that would allow my game to use more memory so I can play EBII without too much CTDs?

    Thanks

I've been playing using the Mac-Steam version for years. I find it very stable so I don't think the 4GB issue is applicable. The only time I get CTDs is if I play very long sessions without a break, or very large battles without waiting for the music to stop before returning to the campaign map. Give it a try.

Did you play version 2.2r? I tried to patch it yesterday but extracting the file directly in the mods folder won't work since the "logs" and "data" folder are extracted in another folder called "2.2r Patch". And I tried to manually move the 2.2r "data" folder into my "EBII" folder, but it does not overwrite EBII "data" folder, it replaces it, which breaks the mod since I guess some of the original files need to remain... Obviously I could manually move all files in the 2.2r "data" folder into the EBII "data" folder to make sure the files that need to stay in there remain, but I wondered if you had managed to do it automatically?

I've played as many as 200 straight turns (no restarts) without a CTD (using the unpatched exe), so "unplayable" is a bit of an exaggeration. That said, it's a good idea to save frequently in the late game and periodic restarts do prevent memory leaks from compounding.

Exactly what I had hoped to hear! Thanks guys.

And what about BOTET? Have you ever tried this one without the 4GB patch? Tried it once, it kept crashing in custom battles (should have tried campaign before uninstalling), thought it was due to the lack of this patch...

To merge rather than replace folders in macOS you need to hold down the option key while doing your drag and drop. So you will need to reinstall 2.2B (following the directions about the no_banner.mesh file etc.) and then drag and drop the 2.2r patch files while holding down the option key.

Right! I completely forgot how to do this. Thanks a lot.
