Greatest soundtrack to a game, anime, movie..?

What is the greatest soundtrack to a movie, game, or anime, or TV show you ever heard.

I was just browsing through a site that contains soundtracks, and ran across the old Ace Combat 4 soundtrack. It's been a few years since I played that game. The soundtrack to this game is amazing... Especially the track that accompanies the last level, where you destroy the final superweapon Megalith in a heroic airbattle. That track just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. It features a bone-chilling female choir accompanied by a slow-paced, yet epic sounding array of brass and string intruments, and typical Namco computer-generated percussion and effects. That track just breathes the words 'heroism', 'sacrifice' and 'hopeless battle' into my ears.

Another sound track worth mentioning, in my opinion, is the Ghost In The Shell movie soundtrack. Most of the tracks aren't really worth mentioning, but there's a certain Asian chant sung by a choir of Japanese girls in there that reappears on 3 or so tracks. I can only describe it with words like 'serene' and 'haunting', but you should hear it for yourself.. This one's good for number two.

Really? , could you show me where you got it from ,id like to hear it. same with the ghost in the shell one.

Hmm... greatest soundtrack. Id have to say Last of the Mohecans , Greatest soundtrack from a game i have to say is from Chaos Gate , its was a turn based strategy game set in the WH40K universe and it featured the Ultramarines in it, the accompanying music Perfectly describes what being a Space Marines means ,it was mostly choral pieces but great stuff none the less.

I liked the soundtrack of Last of the Samurai also,but i wouldn't exactly call it great.Just remembered Halo and Halo2 both have excellent soundtracks and the Halo 3 one looks be shaping quite well too.

Definitely. It has a fantastic soundtrack across the board. Yet another factor contributing to its all conquering brilliance.

As for a game, possibly Battlefield Vietnam. GTA:SA had its moments actually, but not enough in my opinion. I'm pretty fond of Half-Life's (and entailing sequels, addons etc) soundtrack. Seemed to match the action perfectly.

Don't consider that a proper soundtrack, as it wasn't written for the movie. Still great though.

''For a Few Dollars More'' Ennio Morricone.

For the movies, anything by Ennio Morricone. Ahh, the dollar-trilogy is a fine example =)
And games.. Maybe Medieval: Total War or the MGS-series have the most memorable tracks.

For me the most memorable and the most astonishing and the most favourite track-set from a game is that of Age of Empires:The rise of ROME.It's just amazing and takes me to the ancient world.I bet there's nothing better than the game's music.

On the second place,I like the music from the picture Gladiator.Especially my favourite two-'Now we are free' and 'Rome is the light'.

On third place,at last I place Rome:Total War music.It's just amazing.The best one is the 'a cloud has fallen on our shore'.In the same very genre,I like the RTR mod music as well,the most special one being 'Over the mountains' Afghan song.

Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Much love for the kraken theme.

Games: Games are tougher since they're mood tracks and theres always 10-12 songs out of 40 that don't have a beat at all and are just ambient. In the end I'd have to go with Final Fantasy 6.

To a game, definately MTW. Don't know about the other ones.

Holy crap I totally forgot about that movie. It's like...the best musical in history.

Much <3 for the Blues Brothers. Hell even the sequel wasn't bad amazingly.

Some of the best are Kingdom of Heaven music, they are just AMAZING!! Gladiator tracks are good too.

Either Guy Ritche's "Snatch", "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" or Tarantino's "Resevoir Dogs". Great movies, but Snatch has my favorite soundtrack.

Ach I have been trying to find that game for a long time after losing it about a year ago. That has been my favorite flight sim and game series ever. I really like the storylines in it also...

So I agree with you on this.

Games: Battlefield:Nam really got me into late 60's rock, and I swear, all I'd do in the game was fly a chopper and turn on rock tunes.

Morrowind has one of the best orchestra scores I've ever experienced in a game. Beautifully done, and well fit to the setting.

As for a movie, I'm gonna get **** over this one. No song ever fit a movie better than Eye of the Tiger! Rocky III forever!

Splintercell Chaos Theory is very very awesome, Also FF12 soundtrack is nearly perfect everywhere, Okami soundtrack is very good (5CDs), The guilty gear X is very good,

Please point me to those if you can. I have 'Lithium Flower' from Ghost in the Shell series, and the track from the intro (also to the series). Both very good.

Some of my favorite movie soundtracks are that of

Dracula by Philip Glass and the Kronos Quartet and Star Trek: The Motion Picture by James Horner

From video games I'd say,

Halo and Gears of War has a pretty good one as well.
