Like Alwyn, I like a mix of styles in the AAR's. I hae done so with a poem and will do so again. Like Alwyn said, I did imagine the medieval music that would accompany such a song as I was reading. Great job! +rep for just the attempt to include the song. I like it!

War Council. Nuremberg outskirts. 1230 AD.

“Fire and brimstone, Lord King.” Said the man with a devious smile.

“Fire and brimstone.” The King agreed darkly. He strode out to look at the walls that were stopping him. The march to Nuremberg had taken most of the summer and a good part of the spring, but they had finally made it. He saw the engineer he was conversing with take his order for the new oil barrels he commissioned for this siege. He was musing on the war and its toll on the empire when he was interrupted.

    “My King, I bear news.”

He looked at the ragged messenger and decided it was best to listen to him. He was expecting news of the battle against the Danes and he was getting anxious. “To my chambers. Now.” He ordered.
“Yes, my King.” the messenger responded weakly.

Once in his chambers he turned to the messenger. “Have you rested? Have you eaten? You look ragged my boy. Tell me, what is the news from the front?”

“Thank you, my King. Yes, I have eaten and rested. Your servants saw to that. My state is the result of worrying however my lord.”

    “What do you mean?”

“The Tyrell army has been shattered my King. Every man has been lost. The host is utterly destroyed and the outlying cities are vulnerable. There are no defenses left, I’m afraid my King.”

The King looked at the messenger for a long moment. He could feel the messenger shriveling under his stare. He, however, was thinking and pondering of the implications of what this meant. If the Tyrell army was as utterly destroyed as this peasant claimed then we was looking at a Danish invasion within the next few months. He knew he had at least six months because the Danes never march in the winter.

He had three objectives now. Successfully assault Nuremberg, negotiate the submission of the Spaniards and shatter the Danish armies encroaching on his land. So much to do and so little time to do so. He pondered over who to send to the front. He came up with no names. He did respond to the messenger however.

“Tell your lord to muster what defense he can. In the coming months we’ll be there to relieve him and shatter the Danish army. This is the word of your King. Scribe!” he bellowed. “Have that in writing and give it to me to sign it by nightfall. Give this man a warm bed and good food. Find him a good horse and dispatch twenty four men of the Kingsguard to wherever it is he is going. They are his escort. I do not expect any problems, but you never know.”

“Yes my king. Sir, this way.”

The king summoned his court and by nightfall of the next day they had a plan of attack ready. Nuremberg fell the next week, the nobles slaughtered, the Spanish crown shattered and the “Spaniard -up” treaty signed with the blood of Crown Prince at Frankfurt with little opposition to whatever crazy demand the English might have.

It sounds like the King has rapidly achieved two of his three objectives, I wonder how he'll get on with the third one.
