Broken phalanx

Is there some trick to use phalanx in this game?
I generally press the form phalanx ability button and my troops lower it for some 5 secs and then raise the pikes to 60 degree angle which is irritating since
I a phalanx with raised pike is useless.
Also what with the infantry units?I order them to charge and only some 5-8 soldiers charge while rest just keep standing.Duh that's irritating as well.

They should stay on Guard Mode with Phalanx ability engaged. If you're playing 2.2r with the animations update, that's the best we can do with them in the M2TW engine.

In order to fix a bigger bug with precursor weapons, we had to change all those javelin-armed infantry to "skirmishers". So if they still have missiles left, they halt to switch weapons, then charge.
