This is the estate of Margaret de Clare, widow of Piers Gaveston. It was given to her by her uncle, Edward II as a compensation of her dower rights. Her husband Piers Gaveston was executed by a leading group of peers and so her dower rights are disputed. He gave her Oakham castle and lands worth of 1333 pounds a year as a compensation.

Margaret is usually found under the watchful eye of her generous uncle, in his royal household as a lady to Queen Isabella.
